We stayed here with another couple at the Esther cottage for several nights. The unit was spotless, beds comfortable and everything you need to make your stay was available. Liz was helpful and friendly and we enjoyed meeting her. You can walk all over Richmond and see the sights and only 20 minutes away from the airport and short drive into Hobart. I would recommend staying here instead of staying in Hobart. The Animal parks, Port Arthur and Hobart just a short drive away. I wish we could of stayed longer!!

Thank you so much Judy, it was our pleasure to have you, Bill, Ann & Charlie to stay for 5 nights. You are right Richmond is very near to Hobart and the Airport, so a great place to base yourself. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Australia and safe trip back to California. Liz and Martin

I stayed for 2 nights with 2 friends and the Lady Esther cottage was perfect for us. We spent our days exploring Richmond. Liz welcomed us warmly and the breakfast provisions were great and tailored to our liking. The cottage had everything we wanted and more!! I would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone. Next time I would consider staying here instead of Hobart, because it is so peaceful and so close to Hobart and centrally located so that day trips to many places are possible.

Our family of four stayed in the "Lady Esther" cottage for our first night in Tasmania.I can't recommend it highly enough! I was a bit concerned when I booked it that it would be a bit "tired" and "1990s" - but it was fantastic! Liz brought us a breakfast basket with cereals, milk, bananas, yoghurt, fresh orange juice, croissants, plain bread, raisin bread, butter and spreads - plus there was already tea, instant coffee and plunger coffee in the cottage. There was a heater on the wall which quickly warmed the whole two story cottage. Our two children had the upstairs room with a small ensuite, and we had the downstairs double bedroom with its own bathroom. The beds were really comfortable and the little living area was great! I am pedantic when it comes to cleanliness - usually when I stay somewhere on holidays I wash all the cutlery and crockery before we use it - but this place was unbelievably clean and sparkling! The kitchen was spotless, the cutlery and crockery were spotless and the bathrooms were unbelievably clean. It was about 5 minutes walk to The Richmond Arms Hotel for dinner (very average pub!) - which was very handy. Even the garden was really neat and well maintained. I highly recommed this place!!

We had an excellent stay at the Richmond Barracks with a warm welcome from Liz and Martin. The "Lady Esther" was perfect for us with Liz bringing us a breakfast basket each evening for the next day and when we came home in the evening we had a light on and a warm welcoming room. We would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay at Richmond for a night or longer.

We had a couple of nights at the end of our trip with nothing planned. All we knew was that we wanted to visit some of the wineries in the Coal Valley area. Richmond seemed like a good place to stay. I consulted Tripadvisor and the Richmond Barracks came up on the list.
Initally we asked to stay one night, but after the best night's sleep for over a week in the comfort of Lady Esther's Cottage we didn't want to move on.

Just spent 8 days in Tassie and had 3 nights at The Richmond Barracks. When we arrived we were greated by the delightful Liz who made our stay wonderful and who also bought us a nice breakfast basket every morning. The cottage itself was perfect ,it was clean and comfortable and the heating was great. We will return here and would highly recommend this place to anyone.

We arrived in Tasmania and went straight to the Richmond Barracks.
What a great place to stay, we stayed in the Retreat.
Cosy and warm, had everything we needed.
Sory we only had the one night there.
Hope to go back one day in the future.
Have recommended to our friends who are going over in Sept.
