This beach is under a lot of construction but the surfers love it, The beach food is excellent. No shade but beach umbrellas and chairs for rent. Be sure to get a ride in the “Caballitos de Totora” fishing boats.

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2013

I like Huanchaco Beach. Been there three times and 2014 a new journey is on. It is a long beach and lot of space, if you do not come during the New Years weekend when it is packed. The water is cold, rarely above 20°C but it cools well in the summer. A little rocky bottom, buts it's okey.

Sure it can unfortunately be some trash, but the cleaners are doing what they can to keep the beach clean. Trash are not only coming from people on the beach, even from the sea, a lot of trash coming from vessels far out to sea.

Best I like in the southern part of Huanchaco Beach, bigger waves and better surfers there and usually a little less people on the beach. But if you go to the north part of Huanchaco Beach, there are more restaurants to choose from.

What I write may sound some negative, but the beach and the people are really wonderful.
And the sunsets, stunning. Make a visit you will not regret.

“Lively surfers beach, but lined with washed up litter”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

Fun shabby place to visit, popular with surfers, lots of cheap bars, cafes and artisan stalls. I enjoyed walking along the pier, and the quieter ends of the beach, picking up shells despite the tide line of litter. Walking around town was more interesting to me, looking at the colourful graffiti, and climbing the hill with the church provided good views. The churchyard is fascinating.

“This is not a beautiful beach - but the surf is good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2013

We arrived in winter, so maybe the beach is prettier in summer, but in winter it is a long grey beach with grey skies and grey water.

The waves look very good for learning to surf and so I am sure that is the main draw.

We enjoyed our time in Huanchaco - the simple way of life, but it is not a place you go for the views.
