Hostal El Ancla

After 2 nights on the bus we turned up at 7 am but were given a room without any question around check in time. The room was big, airy, Very clean with a good bathroom, very hot water and a tv.

Breakfast was extra but at only $3 very competitive for the area.

The roof area is work in progress but we sat and read up there quite happily.

The owners are friendly and very helpful & the wifi is fast

We stayed in this cozy hotel for two nights. We had great rooms with private shower and plenty of hot water. The staff is amazing! They are always trying to make sure everything if good. We had a nice breakfast which included fresh fruit juice. Beside having a good location, it's very cozy...we highly recommend this hotel!

Ten members of our family stayed at El Ancla for two days, from July 29 to July 31, 2013. Although this was during the Peruvian Independence Day celebrations, and we requested reservations only a day in advance, the staff found ways to accommodate us all to our full satisfaction. They also gave us full cooperation to celebrate the birthday of one of us. When one of us left his wallet with Debit and Credit Cards, the owner found it and returned it to us the next day. We highly recommend El Ancla to anybody who wants to spend time in a very friendly, clean and reliable environment at Huanchaco, at a very reasonable price!

We stayed at Hostal El Ancla for an overnight on our trip from Huaraz back to Ecuador. The staff, especially the young man, was very helpful and friendly. We also enjoyed a good breakfast. Wish we could have stayed longer! Dog-friendly, and secure parking are big pluses for us.

We stayed in the hotel next door but they couldn't keep us for a third night as it was full. We moved to this hotel and it was very nice. It was 30 sol a night, we had 3 triple rooms with private bathrooms. Rooms were clean, staff were lovely and the breakfast was very nice. There is a lovely restaurant in the hotel serving pizza. The owner had no problem with us playing cards after dinner. Really loved this place!

I'd suggest you will either be in Huanchaco for either the surf or your just passing thru. Not much to do here but a nice relaxed beach side town. Hostel is a 5 min plus walk into the main part of town (near the pier) but giving that you will probably only be going in to eat or surf it is not such an issue. Stayed 3 nights for $85 (Inc $3 per day for breakfast of juice, cafe and rolls and jam). Room 202 on second level. Clean spacious and a very comfortable sleep with little noise. Wifi worked in room (except for last night) and overall a nice comfortable place to spend a day or two. Fairly quiet with only cleaning staff appearing to be around for much of the day. Hot water was lukewarm at best and only hot 1 day (out of 4) after a 5 minute warm up. Nice areas to sit and relax on 2nd level and lobby. Rooftop deck has tables and chairs but very much a WIP. Weather not too hot but very cloudy at this time of year and pretty hazy...you wouldn't cone here just for the beach a this time of year. Nice cafe a few minutes away as you walk into town with acceptable coffee and a great selection of pastries. Paid 12 soles for taxi from Linea bus station and 1.50 soles for kombi from Trujillo back to Huanchaco. Would be well suited to a longer term stay.

My partner and I were booked to stay in another hotel at Huanchaco but decided to check Hostal El Ancla out on advice from the cab driver. Totally glad we did. The standard of the rooms was very impressive for the price and Jorge was happy to help me out with any needs. I snapped a leg rope and he organised another one straight away. He helped organise trips to check out the archeological sites and hooked me up with people to take me surfing. Absolute legend
