“5 Star Hotel, not a great restaurant”
Reviewed September 7, 2011

This is an absolutely stunning hotel, with two pools and a great setting.
The rooms are lovely, each with a balcony. We had a great view of the pool and sea.
The bathrooms are fabulous.
The beds are large and extremely comfortable.
They provide all the items necessary to make a great stay.
The staff are friendly and helpful. Many speak English.
The only negative was dinner at the restaurant. It was expensive and was not very nice at all. Breakfast was great with a large selection and includes dishes you can order off the menu.
The service can be a bit erratic, but they are trying hard and will improve with experience.
We tried to order room service one night, but received no answer over an extended period of time.
I would recommend that you stay at this hotel, just be patient with the service, and don't eat dinner in the restaurant.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade. When we were there it was quite empty. You may just get lucky.

My friends and I stayed at the Hotel Paracas for 4 days last week. This was the luxury part of our 10 day trek through Peru. The Hotel Paracas did not disappoint. The rooms have amenities such as an Ipod dock, thermostat control, 110 and 220 voltage plugs, and fluffy robes/towels. Our villa had its own porch with a table and we had a beautiful view of both the ocean and one of the pools. Even when the hotel was pretty booked, it didn't feel crowded.

We used our hotel as a base for a number of different activities in the area including visiting the Nasca lines via a flight from Pisco, sandsurfing, touring Islas Bellestas, and Paracas National Park. In my opinion the trips were overpriced (especially the Nasca flight), but I don't regret taking them. The nice part about the Hotel/Resort is that there is enough to do in the hotel itself to keep you occupied. The pool house has kayaks, catamerans, stand up paddle boating, and bikes that were all included. There is also a beautiful spa on the hotel grounds. Two of my friends used it and said it was amazing.

If you need, the hotel has computers with internet and an ATM. Supposedly the ATM gives out American dollars, but when we were there it only gave out Soles. However, the concierge suggested that we try the ATM at the Hilton and that one worked fine.

The only thing I would add, not necessarily related to this hotel, is that if returning to Lima via bus keep in mind that buses sometimes run a little late (ours was 30 minutes).

Overall, this is an amazing resort that is a must if staying in the Paracas area.

Everything you except an exotic location to be, Spa is excellent, location is stunning... I just felt taken care of and surrounded by a luxury environment. Tours were decent. staff was helpful and Messuage was world class... Some small issues with fine cuisine.. (salads were too large and constructed with large items making them impossible to eat). But other than that I would go here again and again .. next time maybe spend a week .. really something totally unexpected.. and Starwood to boot

The location is stunning with white buildings and very nice gardens all around with flowers. The rooms are located in "villas" mainly in separate buildings with a room on the ground floor and one upstairs, both with nice terraces. Rooms are very elegant, wonderful beds and huge comfortable bathroom with shower and bath. Rooms are super clean. The 2 pools are nice and clean, one with a spa, one with a small pool for children facing the bay. We did not have breakfast: 24 USD/person was too much for us but we saw an enourmous variety of bread that was offered. The city of Paracas consists of a few houses and restaurant that are very close to the hotel (5 minutes walking). There is not much to do in the small town. The hotel is 5 minutes taxi from the Cruz del Sur stop (for ones travelling by bus).
Wrong aspects: the staff is not kind nor willing to help in no way, no one helped us with suitcases. Only people who clean the rooms are smiling and nice to the guests. Then, birds are a big problems: numerous pigeons let the white building + some terraces dirty and it is definitely not nice to see for a 5 stars hotel.

On the surface it looked incredible and the cleanness was great but of two weeks in Peru it was the worst service and insanely overpriced. We have stayed at hotels from $10 to $500 a night and this was among the worst service we have seen around the world.

We stayed in this hotel only one night as we were part of a tour with 4 or 5 star hotels. This hotel was definitively fantastic!
Halls: ample and cosy.
Room: the rooms are really comfortable, modern and well equipped with a kingsize confortable bed. The bathroom is simply fantastic with both shower and bathtub and with the the bidet as well! All the rooms have a terrace with a sofa.
Features: there are two swimming pool with hot water, a wellness centre plus a baby sitting place, two restaurant and a very cosy bar with a fireplace.
We had two massages at the wellness centre and both massages and staff were in line with overall hotel positioning.
Staff: very kind, polite and quick.
Location: on the sea: you can start your trip to ballestas island also from hotel pear.

We started out our trip to Peru at the Hotel Paracas on the recommendation of our fabulous travel agency, Aracari.

The hotel is beautiful: a mixture of the modern and high luxury with a relaxed ocean feel. Spacious rooms with outside porches overlooking the ocean, a gorgeous pool area, and a nice two story spa.

The main restaurant is good though I would skip the buffet and order from the menu (you'll eat as well but save a lot of money). The real find is the Italian restaurant with wood burning oven - fantastic food.

Staff is friendly and helpful: we showed up without our luggage (thank you American Airlines!) but they worked with us and our travel agency to track it down and make sure that it did eventually show up for us.

Paracas has a number of amazing activities including fly overs of the Nazca lines, dune buggies and sand surfing. The most amazing (by far) though is one that hotel sets up: dinner in the desert.

You and your party get into a specially fitted 4X4 and go out to the desert (Peru has a *large* desert area) for thirty minutes of so of amazing driving up and down the dunes. Basically, it was like being on your own private roller coaster. Our driver was fantastic: not only did he handle the dunes fearlessly but he made a point of stopping often to take pictures of my wife and I.

When we let him know we are ready to eat he takes the car off on a tear up, up, up up a dune, up, up and.... stops right on top of it, the 4X4 tipping over the top. Down at the bottom of the dune on the other side, at dusk, is a bedouin tent set up, surrounded by lanterns and torches, a chef cooking away, a red carpet rolled out in the sand (the carpet lined with torches). Our driver pulls up to the red carpet where we are met by a barefoot waiter waiting for us with cold glasses of champagne.

Dinner was relaxed, our own personal chef, our own personal waiter, lying on pillows, drinking and eating into the night.

One of the most amazing experiences of our lives.

So, highly recommend going to Paracas and staying at the Hotel Paracas and definitely make sure to do the Dinner in the Desert!

Room Tip: I believe all rooms have an ocean view but definitely make sure to check your room does.
