“Pleasant Stay”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

We had a nice stay at the Gran Palma. The building is right in front of the beach area. We didn't have a beach facing room, but it was nice all the same - good beds, tv, hot water. No A/C, but in Peru, if you want AC, you have to pay $$$ for the luxury hotels, which is out of my budget range. The breakfast was very good: the usual bread with butter and jam, juice and also some eggs/potatoes etc. on a very nice rooftop terrace that overlooks the ocean.

The staff was super nice and helpful.

My mom had some problems with noise across the street one night, but I've learned in Peru to bring along ear plugs and I slept just fine. There are certainly hostals across the street that are cheaper, but this was a good compromise between cheap and luxury accomodation for us.

From looking at the hotel website and for the money, we had expected a luxury, air conditioned room, perhaps with an ocean view. However, the only room available was a ground level room without AC and without a window for a breeze. Our friends with whom we were traveling had a room for the same price with an ocean view and air conditioning. When requested another room, we were told none were available. But we were persistent because the room they gave us was very hot. Our requests finally yielded us a room with air conditioning. No ocean view, no frills, but it had AC. BTW, the hotel offers WiFi but no terminals, so bring your own portable computing devices. Also, the hotel has no swimming pool.

Room Tip: Ask for air conditioned room and an ocean view! The rooms that have AC and ocean view are nice, the...

Spent one night at Gran Palma. Nice hotel at a good location in Paracas. Rooms were quite small but clean. The roof terass was absolutely great! Had problems with the internet and felt the hotel was expensive compared to other hotels and locations in Peru. Good choice if you're not on a tight budget.

This was one of the only affordable hotels (not hostels) that we saw in Paracas. The hotel is very clean and new looking. The rooms are very small, but clean. Our first room had a view of the main street, and unfortunately there was a loud club playing music extremely loudly right across the street. You could hear it through the windows and through ear plugs. We asked to switch rooms, so they switched us to a room that looked out to a shaft and was decidedly worse, but at least it was quiet so we could get a good night’s sleep.

Breakfast was the usual for Peru, ask for eggs if they haven’t put them out right away. It is close to what little nightlife is available in Paracas. Don’t book Ballestas Islands tours through them, walk 30 seconds down the street to some of the tour offices and book through there.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the beach instead of the road

It's a new hotel with modern forniture near to the restaurants and the shops. The room was clean with a romantic view of the ocean even though noisy (as all hotel in Perù!!!). The perfect breakfast was on the terrace overlooknig the ocean. The staff changed the booking date (because of a flight delay) without any penalty and they help us booking the trip for the Ballestas Islands and the night bus to Arequipa.

This new hotel is located just a few minutes from the pier, the restaurants, souvenir shops and everything else in the tiny town of Paracas. We stayed in a room on the first floor with a small balcony and a great view of the ocean. The room was very clean (especially for Peruvian standards) and the furniture was simple but modern. Unlike some of the other reviewers, we were not bothered by any noise at all, neither from the other rooms nor from the outside. Breakfast was a bit disappointing (especially if you choose not to drink juices or eat raw fruit), but it is served on the roof with an amazing view of the harbor.

The staff were extremely helpful. When my wife suffered food poisening (be careful with the ceviche at Lagunillas!) and could not join me to the Islas Ballestas, they served her breakfast in bed and allowed her to stay in our room until after the official check-out time. Later, when the cleaning lady came to clean our room, we were given another room so my wife could rest for a few more hours.

There is nothing negative to report about this hotel. It was the best hotel we stayed at during our time in Peru.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back. The ocean view is worth it!
