“Impressive Hotel”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

I Visited all the better hotels in the Paracas area and liked this best of all.
The front desk, gift shop and restaurant staff very attentive. The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. The patio, with comfortable furniture was wonderful. The pool was a delight as well as the outdoor dining. Was able to roll out of bed, go for a swim and have breakfast. Now that is living!
Only wish I had a better knowledge of Spanish as the restaurant staff spoke little English.

Room Tip: Go for 1st floor poolside

This hotel is an absolutely beautiful retreat if you are visiting Paracas and the Islas Ballestras. It is oceanside with a great pool and hot tub area. Drinks and food can be served poolside. In addition, there is a very good restaurant with outdoor seating. The rooms are extremely comfortable, and each of the staff goes out of their way to be helpful. Many speak English. There is even a coffee bar! We couldn't have been happier at La Hacienda.

Room Tip: Get a poolside room on the first floor if you want to just walk out to the pool. Those have a littl...

We just stayed one night for Christmas eve in 2012. Everything was perfect: quality building, good taste decoration, good service, amazing swimming pool, nice restaurant, beautiful room. Much nicer that what we have seen from the next-door Hilton.
For 250$, that was worthing the price.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a view on the pool and the sea. Some ground floor rooms have direct access to the sw...

Reminded me once I read his review.

I will add that. My fiancé and loved the fact that it was quiet and the poolside service impeccable. Great restaurant Very casual and warm rooms. Our room was on the second floor and overlooked the pool The patio was a very nice addition and a fireplace was a cool bonus. Great pool too. The front desk also secured our bus travel from Paracas to Lima and since our departure was not until 8pm allowed us full use of Spa and resort until we departed (I thought that was a nice touch allowing us to really enjoy our last day in Peru)

A great place for a family vacation too. They have two-story rooms that looked awesome from outside

Room Tip: 1206 worked for us!

Hacienda Bahia

I just spent a very enjoyable two days down in Paracas on a short escape from Lima with my wife and her parents. We looked at the different new resort hotels in Paracas and picked La Hacienda because it was reasonably priced, Peruvian-owned and seemed less likely to attract the snobby Lima set that we were keen to avoid.

We picked right.

The place is beautifully designed with tasteful low rise buildings nestled around a big and inviting pool. Plenty of palm trees and green, contrasting with the desert landscape outside the hotel. View of the sea and the Paracas peninsula is gorgeous. The rooms were huge and fittings nicely done, each one had a lovely comfortable terrace, ours looking over the garden courtyard and the in-laws with an ocean view. These rooms were at the entry level price range, so the others must be very comfortable indeed.

Paracas as a destination has huge potential. There are some things that would help it to achieve that potential though, mainly to do with hospitality and service. It made me think that an ideal development cooperation project for a country like Switzerland or France or something would be to put some aid money into training programmes for local people in Paracas and maybe other up and coming tourist areas. This sort of fine-tuning would make a big difference to a place that is already extremely beautiful, charming and still has a somewhat undiscovered feel to it (to the extent hat is possible in Peru).

So here are my minor critiques of La Hacienda.

When we arrived there is a person from the hotel at the vehicle entrance gate and a traffic cone in the middle of the entrance. The person might be there to welcome you, but instead the attitude is distinctly uninviting. We were asked for our name, which we gave and then he spent a while looking at his list while we waited in our car. Eventually he let us in. This is a very bad system. There are not that many rooms in the hotel and there can't be that many new arrivals each day. If they insist on having a screening at the vehicle gate they should make sure they have a very clear list of all the reservations due to arrive that day and then tick them off one by one as they arrive. That way it wouldn't take more than a few seconds to recognise each name and let the vehicles pass. Even better would be for the man at the gate to spend his time standing there all day to commit the names of the arriving guests each day to memory that way he could them in immediately. Not a big deal, but the first contact makes a difference.

Second small thing was at the reception desk where they asked us for a printout of our booking. We didn't have one because the booking had been made through the hotel website and we figured we would be in the system. we were in the system but the woman insisted on getting something from us. She eventually asked us to email it to her. This seemed very odd indeed. It's not a cheap hotel. Once we have booked (and paid) we shouldn't be expected to provide anything further. That's what the computerised booking system is for. Again, a minor irritation, but coming on top of the gate interaction it made me feel like I had to fight my way into the hotel. I shouldn't be like that. You should feel like you are breezing in.

I only raise these two small things as constructive criticism, they can easily be fixed. And I thought the hotel was great and the staff doing their best. I just felt like they could do with some more training and I hope this feedback is useful. To be fair, I am pretty sure that this feedback would apply to every other place in Paracas. I imagine that three or four years from now it will be different. The service in places up in Cusco, for example, can be quite outstanding.

So I would definitely recommend this hotel as a great place for a short beak from Lima or a longer holiday to explore the region. I look forward to going back and seeing it again in the next few years. I am sure it will get even better!

Our best hotel in Peru- bar none. The rooms are spacious and pleasant with open balconies overlooking the bay with comfortable chairs. A wonderful swimming pool and beach with amazing views of the sea and birds. The restaurant food was the best we had in Peru and the waiter was lovely- gave us suggestions of wines, talked about the local delicacies and how they were cooked. The food was a little more expensive, but much better quality and the view was excellent. Our onward trip was slightly delayed but we weren't made to move out of our room - they kindly let us stay in until we left.

I agree this was the best place we stayed in, in Peru. It was a beautiful view and pool. The sunset alone was worth the stay. Actually, the whole hotel was beautiful. The staff was very accommodating, rooms were roomy and the food was very good. We did not have a wait for food, it was served promptly. They even had a very nice workout facility.
