My wife and I spent a week in Troncones right before the holiday rush thus year, and Present Moment became our unofficial club house (in a spiritual yoga and margiritas way).

We stumbled across Present Moment while walking on the beach from our house to Troncones. We were greated by CJ, Pete and Tom (the owners) who encouraged us to have lunch and explore their classes.

We stayed and had an amazing, healthy Mexican-fused lunch and then returned later for two hours of intense yoga as the sun set. We soon settled into a routine: yoga classes by the beach and cocktails as the sun set.

The physcial lay-out of the resort is great: serene and calm with beautiful plants and an amazing pool. The yoga platform frames a white sand beach. The rooms are all open -- no AC, no walls inside the bungalows. The ocean breeze keeps you cool at night and netting keeps the bugs out.

Don't worry about it being TOO zen though, because there is a full bar and a menu of amazing dishes. In the evenings we would have a nice long dinner and then drinks at the bar. Everyone who works there is very friendly and helpful -- and they all love their resort and are happy with what they are doing.

The guests who were staying there overnight reported that the massages were great and the beds comfortable.

BUT BE WARNED: this place is not for everyone. There is not much holding nature out and there are no big resort comforts. This place is elegant and simple. It is a place to come, do some yoga, walk on the beach, and get in touch with some inner peace.

My husband and I spent the next 4 nights at Present Moment Retreat. We took yoga and qi-gong classes that were excellent. My husband will tell you that they are not for the weak of heart (he's not the most flexible guy). The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. CJ, Peter, and Armando were fantastic!

The food was delicious, but a little pricey. They have happy hour and tapas from 5-7. Try the tuna sandwiches and their homemade granola! It's by far the nicest restaurant in the area.

The location of the hotel is nice--pretty much center of town so you can walk to other places very easily. Although, it's a small town. It's very quaint and relaxing.

They organized a great kayaking tour for us with Alejandro, a local guide, and surfing with Beto, another local guy. It was a lot of fun! If you are there you MUST get a deep tissue massage by Caroline--but you must be able to take a beating. The best massage I've ever had!

The only "surprise" was how open the huts were so open. The walls don't go to the ceilings and you can hear everything. I had to invest in ear plugs for the second night--we could hear the people outside at the hotel next door. Although, normally I think the ocean waves drown most noises. You can also see through the walls from the waist up--so the non-hotel workers could peer into our bathroom--CUIDADO! The beds were very small--doubles at most, which was tough for us tall gringos, but the bedding was awesome. On our hut (although not all) the doors were short so if i stood up without a shirt on, everyone there and the restaurant patrons would be able to see my bare chest. Although I'm almost 6 foot tall.

Overall though, the huts were beautifully designed and so were the entire grounds. The Zen garden is beautiful. I'd highly recommend it.

They take pride in using organic foods and products that are environmentally friendly, which we appreciated.

They also helped us battle a car rental place when they tried to rip us off. Thanks!!!

Room Tip: Ich hatte ein Zimmer mit Klimaanlage zur Straße. Es war sehr schön und relativ ruhig. Lediglich an das Meeresrauschen muss man sich gewöhnen
