“American wanna be Mexican Food”
Reviewed February 25, 2012

Was not impressed by this place. We tried it due to the amount of recommendations we got from different people.

The food was nothing to speak off, especially for the price. It was very Americanized with some kind of Mexican twist.

We did go back for drinks one evening to give it one more chance, but again was not impressed.

Both times the owner was there and was rude to his employees and seemed uninterested in his customers. The father of the owner was the only thing that made the place a somewhat pleasant experience. He went out of his way to interact with customers.

“Great value”
Reviewed February 13, 2012

Have known Christian since our first trip to Troncones in 1999, I have the greatest respect for his food and his commitment to quality. His pizza is the best in the area as well as his artisanal breads. Great coffee and breakfasts, and creative sandwiches at lunch. The staff is also top notch and have been with him a long time.

“Pleasantly surprised”
Reviewed February 9, 2012

When you are in Troncones you will feel quite isolated. There is barely a town and very few amenities, except of course a beautiful ocean with an almost pristine beach which is practically empty. It's a wonderful place to visit for a few days if you feel like lounging around and taking long walks on the beach. We were happy to discover Cafe Sol with it's casual but gourmet food. The first night we ate there we ordered a pizza and burger along with drinks. The pizza came out and we were shocked to see that it was a delicious wood-fired pizza cooked to perfection with a crispy but still chewy, thin crust. It looked exactly like the pizza I get at my favorite spot in NY and it's hard to find pizza like that in Mexico. The burger was also very tasty. The next evening we dropped in again for some food and to watch the last NFL playoff game. We ordered a delcious salad and another pizza and I decided to try the fish of the day too. The restaurant was packed with gringos (I didn't know there were so many in Troncones!) and we had a blast watching the game with everyone. My fish came out overdone but I assume on a normal day it would have been perfect. They were too busy to keep up and it must have been left on the grill a little too long. This is one of the few great places to eat in Troncones!
