There is not more that can be said about Hacienda de la Costa beyond all the other positive reviews provided. The B&B is serene, the owners Terri & Steve are hospitable and the location is perfect. The walk into town is a few hilly miles - we loved the exercise and the views. We took all of Steve's advice went it came to excursions (into Punta mita) and restaurants - he won't steer you wrong. This was one of our most enjoyable trips to Mexico. If you're considering visiting Sayulita put this on the top of your list of spots to stay!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Casita del Jardin room - it was lovely and private. While we didn't have an oce...

this place will exceed your expectations. perfect for romatic get away or for a group of friends who want a chill vacay. my husband and i spent many hours reseaching pv and sayulita and are soooo happy we booked this place. we stayed in la vista room, had two porches and watched the sun set over the ocean from our balcony everynight! the room was beautiful and spacious. the breakfasts were AMAZING. we are totally foodies from seattle, so eating is our main activity on vacation. Terri cooks gourmet breakfasts that are to die for. they are so filling you really only need a snack and one other meal for the day. there are fully equipped kitchens if you want to cook, we would make the trip into town for fish tacos :) the location is a 30-45 minute walk to town, but it is sooo worth it. it is quiet and secluded. the beaches (15 minute walk) are private and beautiful. the pool is fabulous. this place is so beautiful and relaxing we came home feeling like our vacation was twice as long. just stop reading and book your stay!

I will be brief:

• Best place I've stayed in Mexico
• Perfectly off the beaten track (and that's an understatement)
• Amazing breakfast, hot, and always creative
• Clean and spacious rooms
• Very quiet (except for the night chorus of crickets)
• The screaching, morning chachalaca's reminded us daily to *get outta bed ... you're burning daylight! :-)
• The dogs, especially Taco, made me feel quite welcome and important
• Birding is THE BEST, on and right off the property.
• I'm looking for the place to give more than 5 stars, but Trip Advisor seems to be antiquated.

Oh yeah … Steve and Terri. They're alright :-)

In summary … I'll be back.

Our "job" can never grow old when we get to share in your joy of hearing a Chachalaca for the first time or seeing an orange-fronted parakeet. We can't wait to see you again, both we ,and the birds, will be waiting :-)

We've visited Steve and Terri's beautiful hacienda in the jungle, twice before, first year for 5 days, second year for 12 days and this year just for a visit to 'Steve's' poolside bar to say hi to them both and to enjoy a signature margarita!

While there today, I longingly surveyed our beautiful, well maintained, clean room with the fantastic view that we used the last two years and I enjoyed the private and lush garden setting where at most, but rarely if ever , 10 guests are poolside at onetime. Only 2 of the current guests were poolside today.

It was great to visit again today and Terri and Steve made us feel very welcome, introducing us to their newest adopted family members (dogs and cats) lucky to have a home in Mexico.

This year because we were in Sayulita with a larger group of family we opted for a town location but we will definitely go back to the Hacienda for another longer stay in the future! The contrast of our accomdataion this year and our visit to the Hacienda today made us even more aware just how special a spot it is and prompted our review.

Room Tip: All rooms are very nice. Breakfast and dinners are tasty.

We agree with all the lovely things people have said about this amazing villa tucked into the hills above the ocean. Quiet, pristine, delicious meals---all true. Terri and Steve are pros, gracious and knowledgeable. (Steve even got up in the dark one morning, made us coffee, and drove us to meet a tour guide at the crack of dawn.) The nearby beaches are beautiful and mostly deserted. My husband is very interested in birds and, as it turns out, one of the best spots to see amazing birds in all Sayulita is along the river just a short walk away! This is definitely on our must return list.

Room Tip: We stayed in La Vista which had a beautiful view and a lush garden.

It's difficult not to say anything that other reviewers have not already expressed, though this was probably our most relaxing vacation experience to date! The beautiful setting and all of the detail and thought that Terri and Steve have put into their property and guest comfort is so evident the minute you arrive. Carefully thought out and beautifully designed and constructed, it is the most pleasing vacation environment that we have found. Also adeptly and consciously tended by their daily gardener and maid, nothing is left amiss!

From the time we first inquired about reservations to the moment we (sadly) had to leave, Terri is on top of it all! Always thoroughly researching our lodging choices before a trip on Trip Advisor, the one that stood out was Hacienda de la Costa and true to what we had read, we were so pleased to when we arrived! Terri and Steve truly want you to be informed before you arrive and proactively provide all the information and help they can before you even set foot on their property! For instance, we needed to be sure there would be a decent Internet connection during our stay (due to work and online courses) and she replied it was there, but warned it may not be what we were used to at home - she seemed very concerned that it might not be good enough! With that information in hand, we knew what to expect, but it all worked out great, finding different spots on the property that had better signals than other areas... We were on a mountainside and in the jungle after all! The property is situated on a bluff above, a short distance from the ocean, just far enough to hear the waves at night, but not so close that it keeps you awake! The bed was incredibly comfortable too! We stayed in the La Vista room which is above the other rooms and had a private entrance/staircase with beautiful views of the property and ocean beyond. We were able to get a tour of the other rooms and casitas, but this would be our choice again for sure, though they were all nice and pristine!

The atmosphere was so relaxing we spent a lot of our time near the pool (which was always a comfortable temperature), especially the first 3 days of our week-long stay when we were the only guests! What an indulgence! While other guests were there we enjoyed meeting other folks who also enjoyed the informal, relaxed atmosphere. The walks to the local beaches - we recommend the one to the south and about a 15 walk- were a nice, reasonable exercise as well as the walk to town. Terri's breakfasts are so plentiful that we only needed some snacking food (that we picked up at the Megamart on our way there) between breakfast and dinner. She is a truly wonderful cook so be sure to partake in her her dinners as we did! One night, the power was out but she was able to execute a beautifully prepared meal anyway! You rock, Terri! Other nights, we ate in town, partially on Trip Advisor recommendations but also followed through on Steve's advice. They have lived there many years and can tell you the best authentic spots to go! Steve has a lot of information, stories and experiences to share with you - the consummate host! (Hi Steve!).
All in all, they provided the most warmest reception, ongoing hospitality and total relaxation that we have experienced on a vacation. Their well-behaved, beloved pets also added a degree of home, if you have pets of your own. Believe what you read from all of the reviews here on Trip Advisor! We did, and were completely satisfied and thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

My husband and I just returned from an incredible week at the Hacienda de la Costa. This was our first trip to Sayulita and we were not sure where to stay or what to expect, but feel so lucky to have decided on this property! It is located on a bluff overlooking the most secluded, gorgeous beach and the surrounding property is landscaped beautifully offering complete privacy. There are country roads and a long stretch of beach for peaceful strolls, more vigorous hikes/walks and just complete relaxation. The pool was just the right temperature and a good size for swimming some laps or just cooling off. The property is two miles from town on a dirt and cobblestone lane, which may seem far on the first trip, but we got used to it very quickly and were glad to have the peace and quiet of the property with the ability to get to town whenever we wanted. Steve and Terri are wonderful hosts making you feel very at home and cooking up delicious breakfasts every morning and an incredible dinner twice per week. Oh and Steve makes a mean margarita too! They also helped arrange a private boat to take us whale watching and snorkeling, which was fantastic. They had many other tips for day trips and local restaurants that we tried and enjoyed thoroughly. We loved their doggies too! They have four rescues that each have their own story and quirks and all so sweet. There are coolers, ice, umbrellas, beach towels and DVDs for your use as well as an honor bar with beer, soda and juice. We stayed in the Casita, which worked very well for us because we were able to settle in and prepare meals for quiet days by the beach and pool.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Casita and enjoyed having a separate living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and pa...
