This is our second evening and everything about Villa Amore has exceded our expectations. We've surfed small waves, has a couple strolls through town, and best of all just relaxed. It is very warm now, but we are lucky enough to have a plunge pool, which is extremely refreshing. Our 'villa', Serena, is beautiful. We have an incredible view of the bay from both the bedroom and our outdoor living room. We had a margartia pizza last night from the O restaurant here, and it was pretty good. All the staff are wonderful: friendly and very helpful. We highly recommend Villa Amor!

I took my first trip to Sayulita in May and was fortunate enough to stay with a group in La Gran Villa and Villa Paraiso. These two Villas are located one atop the other in a multistory building on top of the hill with a 360-degree view. The other buildings of the hotel are located at various levels down the hill. The property has all the advantages of a vacation rental (privacy, kitchens, living rooms, decks), and none of the disadvantages (no cleaning or schlepping). The hotel provides daily maid service and the option of room service.

The crow’s nest sleeping area under the palapa roof was simply amazing — not a better view to be had in all of Sayulita. Soft breezes kept things cool and the sound of the gently lapping water literally lulled me to sleep. I had intended to use one of the five bedrooms on the main level of Villa Paraiso, but the lure of the crow’s nest was too strong for me to resist.

Our group did a number of fun things during our 4-day stay (one of the highlights was a day sail on La Chica Locca catamaran, another was watching fire dancers on the beach), but we also loved just staying put in the Villa, getting a chef to come in and prepare the snapper we bought from fishermen on the beach one morning, and dining/dancing on the patio in the evening as the setting sun turned Sayulita Bay golden. I have attached a few pictures, but they really don’t do the place justice. I’ve been to many beautiful places, but the friendly vibe of Sayulita is truly special.

I was there for a “milestone” birthday party weekend and the indoor/outdoor living space was perfect for our group of 14 to congregate, sip cocktails, enjoy a salsa dance class or just relax in La Gran Villa’s private infinity plunge pool or soak in the hot tub.

We had a bartender (Jose) in the kitchen most days, so blender drinks made from fresh local fruit, snacks and tasty margaritas were always at hand!

The villa is at the top of a big hill on the point which gives it the breathtaking view. Thankfully, the resort recently purchased a golf cart that groups renting this villa for several days can use free of charge — that made all the difference in the world (it’s quite a hike up the hillside)! The beach is just down the hill and a short walk away, but we were so taken with the view from the plunge pool that we spent most of our in-water time right on the property.

I wouldn’t advocate bringing small or overly curious children to this villa as the deck isn’t “child proofed” in any way. However, teens and adults will love the open layout and all the amenities it has to offer.

The first floor (Gran Villa) has 3 bedrooom suites and 3 1/2 baths — perfect for sleeping 6 adults. The second floor has 5 bedrooms plus the crow’s nest, sleeping 8-10 adults or teens (but I’d suggest that folks staying upstairs know each other well as the open air palapa makes 3 of the bedrooms less private than the downstairs suites). We rented both levels, so we felt like we really owned the place.

While I hear that La Gran Villa is often rented for weddings (and I can see why because there’s a wonderfully large brick patio to seat maybe 60-80 guests), It is the best grown-up destination birthday weekend venue I can imagine. I’d like to give a special shout out to the event planner our host hired, Katie. She made everything (from en suite massages, to fireworks over the water, to booking a local tattoo artist) look effortless. It was fun, relaxing and a great way to ring in a new decade. I’m thinking about planning MY next big birthday there!

We stayed in the Gran Villa/Villa Paraiso at Villa Amor. It was a truly magnificent villa with views of the bay, a full kitchen, family room, pool and wide deck. The villa has an open design and beautifully appointed rooms. We enjoyed the villa so much with our friends, we barely ever went out. The hotel staff were wonderful too. They made us delicious private meals and took care of cocktails and h'ordeuvres -- we felt like the rich and famous.

Room Tip: Book the Gran Villa.

My family and I stayed in a suite called Escondido from April 16th-23rd. It had all the the Mexican charm you can imagine: marble floors, high ceiling, clay walls, an outdoor (yet totally secluded) kitchen, even its own pool. This was the best room I ever stayed in my life! We were right on the beach, just a short walk from downtown. It is also of note that Villa Amor is architecturally one of the most unique and gorgeous hotels I've ever seen. Every room is completely original. The staff was amazing and the restaurant was spectacular! We had checked out a few other places online before settling on Villa Amor, and I can say with 100% certainty that we made the right choice! We are looking forward to returning this February.

We stayed at Villa Amor in January, and had a wonderful time. The staff was warm and helpful. We were close to the swimming beach and the surfing scene, as well as a less than 5 minute walk to the center of town. We had a charming suite with a kitchen and view. It was quiet and provided a much needed rest from the Northeast winter.

Upon arrival to our destination we instantly felt we had entered paradise! Villa Amor is spectacular! Beautiful. Manicured. Spacious. Unique! The staff was meticulous & courteous. The grounds blew us away! Imagine living INSIDE exquisite nature. We took our 4yo son with us who had the time of his life. The hammocks under the banana trees at V.A. were unforgettable, RELAXING moments with him. He LOVED waking up with the sun & venturing to they amazing beach right in front of us! We considered staying outside of town in a small exclusive hotel nearby but we're so happy we chose V.A., right on edge of the village. Highly recommend Villa Amor. You will undoubtedly have an awesome time there.
