This was my third trip to St. Anthony and the Grenfell Heritage is unquestionably the best hotel I've stay in. It was apparently built as nurse's quarters for the hospital across the street and each room a former nurse's room. It was clean and spacious. Our room had a complete kitchen and even a fold down bed. In addition, there was a guest laundry of which we availed ourselves. The continental breakfast was adequate and served early enough to enable a good start on the day.

We stayed four nights at the Grenfell Heritage Hotel. Our room had one queen bed and a pull-down bed, as well as a fully equipped kitchen which came in handy. Our room was spotless and the bed was comfortable. There was a guest laundry downstairs which we made use of. There was a balcony and two camp chairs provided to use there. The staff are amazing--very friendly, helpful and always willing to suggest the best places to go for sightseeing. The free continental breakfast was basic--toast, coffee, juice, fruit and cereal--and the breakfast room is very small, but trays are provided to take food back to the rooms.

Looking at the other hotels in St. Anthony during our sightseeing, I would say the Grenfell is far ahead of the competition. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We recently spent 2 nights at the Grenfell Heritage Hotel. We had a room on the second floor which was very spacious and clean. Continental breakfast was included. The only negative comment of the hotel would be the size of the room where we ate our breakfast. It was rather small so the second morning we ate in our room. The lady at the front desk was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable of the area.

On a bike trip through NFLD and staying here for 1 night. BOOK AHEAD. I've read on blogs that things fill up and when we checked in at about 4pm, I heard staff say to direct people to another town because the entire town of St. Anthony was booked and this is a Monday.
Very beautiful room. Clean with floors as opposed to rugs. Room had a full kitchen and a sitting area with tv and chairs with the bed. The balcony was nice and they provided camp chairs to enjoy. Free wifi. Woman at the front desk was very sweet and helpful. Recommending things in the area. Unfortunately, the Viking Feast doesn't go on a Monday so we weren't able to do that. Not sure about the thin walls previously mentioned as I didn't hear anything while we were here. Very nice stay, I recommend.

Room Tip: My room is on the 1st floor and quite large with separate kitchen.

The hotel was very nice and comfortable. Although this was an old building it has been renovated to accommodate tourists very comfortably. There is an elevator which was very welcomed. The restaurant is big and offers a wide variety of local cuisine. The service was great and very friendly.
I would have no problem in recommending this hotel and restaurant. We would stay here again no problem.

Room Tip: You could ask for a room facing the bay. It would be quieter. We had a room facing the Main Street a...

I stayed at Grenfell Heritage Hotel with my husband and 'tween daughter for 1 night in July. There are very limited choices in the St Anthony area for families, and Grenfell had everything we needed. We stayed in a Double Suite (room 210 on the second floor), which overlooked St. Anthony Harbour (and also overlooks the parking lot and the helicopter launch pad for the hospital across the street). It is a super convenient location, almost immediately next door to Grenfell Historic Properties, which is also where the dock is located for the Northland Discovery Boat Tour (highly recommended!!) It is about a 40-minute drive away from L'Anse Aux Meadows. On the plus side: The room was spotlessly clean, ample in size, with 2 double beds and another pull-out single (which we didn't use), comfortable beds, a/c, and a sitting area with desk and chairs. The location was the perfect base to explore St Anthony and L'Anse Aux Meadows (The Norseman restaurant at L'Anse Aux Meadows was amazing, and our favorite on this trip). On the minus side: The walls and doors are paper thin, the "kitchenette" in the Double Suite is really just a mini-fridge and microwave located right beside the bed (this was fine with us, but the description is a bit misleading), and the included breakfast was as basic as it gets (commercial cereals, pre-packaged Sara-Lee muffins, yogurt, toast). Overall, I would still recommend this property as it is super clean and convenient, and a great base for exploring the region.

Room Tip: Room 210 (Double Suite) has 2 double beds, no kitchen (just a mini-fridge and microwave, located rig...

As we decided to visit St. Anthony's on a 'whim' after spending time in Gross Morne <third week of June> had not booked in advance and yet were able to secure a one-bedroom suite at Grenfell Heritage on short notice. Had decided to try here based on TA's previous references. Needless to say this facility lived up to its billing as was very clean and had been well kept up. Our one-bedroom suite was $143 plus tax which we felt was good value - and one does appreciate the extra 'space' after spending time on the road! The WiFi worked fine as did the good selection of channels in the separate sitting area <can't imagine having to watch hockey playoffs until 12:30 in the morning every day though!>. The kitchenette was very well appointed including a full sized fridge <which was the only appliance used>. The king sized bed was very comfortable as well. The balcony, which overlooked the harbour, had a regular BBQ on it which am sure would be handy for those doing their own cooking. We went for supper at Lightkeepers which would highly recommend. The girl at the desk was most helpful and gave us a full orientation to the hotel & community. Many menus are available for perusing at the front desk. There was a contintental breakfast included in the rate but honestly can't remember much about it <will mark it down as 'non-descript'>. Were quite surprised with the local prices - gas was only 1.36 / litre<was expecting more at this location> and restaurant prices quite reasonable as well <quite a change from St. John's> We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to L'Anse aux Meadows and St. Anthony's. Would definately recommend this establishment for your consideration when staying in the area.
