I was able to book the hotel online via a Moscow web site. They were quite responsive via email before I went to Russia and let me know that my reservation was there but I needed to provide a phone number. Which, I was able to do once in Moscow. I called them and confrimed. When I arrived in Sergiev Posad, I walked to the hotel from the train platform (about 15 min). The hotel is wonderfully situated and looks out over the entire Sergeevsky Lavre! It is about another 15 min walk from the hotel to the compound.
Unfortunately the weather was horrid - wet, slushy (winter was hanging on this year) and so the hotel was almost empty - I say 'unfortunately' because the staff was pretty sparse too. I went downstairs twice hoping to catch someone who could tell me if the kitchen was open. But dinner was tastey. The woman who ran the desk was very pleasant, had my reservation ready to go, but she was hard to find at times.
I found the rooms comfrotable and the bathroom clean and adequate. The interior is modest but pleasant and is supposed to impart a '19th century' feeling. The value was extremely good for anything of that calibre in the Moscow area - about 1800 Ru at that time. I have to imagine they are better staffed in the summer!
