The hotel is relatively modest and somewhat "tired", but it is so well situated and Salema is so pretty that you will enjoy your stay. We had a room on the 4th floor, with a view of the ocean - I believe that all rooms have a good view - and the lack of amenities just adds to the feeling of having gone back in time. We would go back...

We tend not to revisit areas and hotels, but this is the third year we've spent a weekend at Hotel Residencial Salema which must be a good sign. Salema is a nice little village- half fishermans cottages and half new build apartments, though the latter are tucked away up the hill. Therefore from your room at Hotel Salema, you can see the beach and sea but are really away from the main tourist sleeping options. Salema has a few small bars and restaurants -certainly enough to keep a couple or family happy for a week - probably not a good choice for young ravers though!

The hotel is simple and clean and in a great location. All rooms have balcony and sea view and all get the sun in the late afternoon in July/August. This is good as its nice to sit on your balcony at this time and also the rooms don't get too hot through the day (they have A/C anyway). The room is nicely decorated in simple style, the bathroom was a good size and was very clean and the shower etc worked well.

Breakfast is a buffet style and even though we usually go near to the 10.30 am 'deadline' it doesnt give the feel of having been stood for a long time. Service is friendly and efficient without being over the top.

In summary-another satisfactory visit and we'll no doubt return!

The delightful fishing village of Salema has several accommodation options but this is the best bet. It looks and feels like a Mediterranean 70s-style hotel - which only adds to its charm. It also in the evening serves as a meeting point for the local community. Very friendly service. Only real downer is the small bathroom.

This is an absolutely beautiful little village and the Hotel Salema sits right ON the beach. Every room faces the beach and was just breath taking. The price was shockingly low ($55 euro per night the end of June) and the village of Salema is small but very charming. I highly recommend staying here if you want a gorgeous beach that is not highly commercial and a location that has everything for a dream like quite beach get away.

We intended to stay at a smaller place in Salema--a B&B or pensione--but my friend is allergic to cats and dogs and most of the smaller places have them, so we opted for the only hotel in town. We were so glad! It is very close to the beach, parking is relatively easy, and restaurants are all close. No hills to climb, as there would have been had we stayed at a smaller place. The rooms are very basic but clean, and there is a bar on the premises with wifi in the lobby and bar. And we could hear the ocean all night. The morning light is wonderful for photographers--and of course late afternoon too. If you're going to Salema, this is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: All the rooms are pretty much the same. Higher rooms will have a better view.

This hotel is the only one in the most beautiful village in the whole of the Algarve which in the main is a built up concrete jungle. It is a lovely hotel with clean bright rooms. There are restaurants, bars and shops in the village. the beach is beautiful but the water as everywhere along that coast is so cold that a swim lasts twenty seconds. Well worth the drive along the coast.

Had a wondeful night's sleep with the sound of the surf in the background.
Hotel was nice and clean. Twin room was plenty big for us.
Salema was a charming village and was a great base for visit to Cape Sagres and Cape St Vincent
