It was a holiday in Grignan and we were afraid we would have to munch third rate pizza on the street since everything else was closed. Then we noticed La Cachette seemed to be opening and decided to take a chance. Within minutes of our arrival the place was packed to the gills and the sole server, the owner I think, was taking orders, clearing dishes, seating customers, and bringing the food prepared in the closet-sized kitchen by a young man that might have been her son. The set menu was a warm chevre salad followed by a trio of perfectly grilled lamb chops and we ordered it with a local rose wine all for a total of only 56 Euros for two. We thoroughly enjoyed this rather rustic dining experience on a lovely warm spring evening and consider it one of the highlights of our three weeks in France.
