“Perfect Anniversary Getaway!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

My wife and I stayed here to celebrate our 5th anniversary and could not have been happier with our choice. We stayed for three nights. Adrian and Kate were wonderful hosts and made us feel right at home. We stayed in the Das Land Haus. We really enjoyed the privacy and proximity to the hot tub. The room was clean and comfortable and perfect for quiet relaxation.
The food was outstanding! While the breakfast each morning was delicious, the ultimate French toast stole the show! We also opted for some of their specialty packages: the Port and Chocolate tasting, the picnic lunch and the 4 course dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed each of these experiences and will do them again on our next visit. We can not recommend the Alpenhorn enough and look forward to our next visit!!!

Room Tip: If you're looking for privacy and romance, choose the Das Land Haus. You are separated from the...

This was my third trip to Alpenhorn Gasthaus over a decade. The grounds and housing are lovely and simple. They are comfortable and the hosts re wonderful. The food is extraordinary. This is THE place to get away from it all and relax. I felt truly rejuvenated when I left. I will return again. I stayed in the Kings' Room in the main house, but would recommend any room on the premises.

Room Tip: There are steps into the main house, steps to the rooms on the second floor and steps to get to Das...

We came to Hermann for cycling on the Katy trail, which was just perfect. The Alpenhaus hosts were always here for our needs. The rooms were well decorated ,clean ,and quiet. Breakfast was tasty, and Swiss, with meuseli, frittatas, and whole grain -thick-pancakes. All in all, a great, quiet 3day stay!!

Room Tip: Adrian and Kate will pack a healthy biker's lunch for you,if requested.

My wife and I stayed here for her birthday and it was a wonderful experience. I've got to start with how delicious each breakfast was. Fresh fruit, fresh eggs, pancakes, and French toast. All prepared in ways that were unique and tasty. The suite we stayed in was beautiful. One room with a bed and another with a day bed. I highly suggest the chocolate and port tasting. The chocolate truffles melt in your mouth. Finally, our hosts were friendly and cheerful. Always willing to share stories of their B&B or their homeland of Switzerland. Our first B&B experience and I can't imagine a better experience.

My boyfriend and I spent one weeknight to see Hermann. We stayed in the larger cottage which was built in 1860 and had the original wood floor. The cottage was very clean. Attention to details to make your stay comfortable were evident down to the umbrella and the flashlight in the room. Electric candles were in every window that came on at night. It was very quiet and peaceful. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful! It started with mimosas or fresh squeezed orange juice and French toast topped with fresh fruit and a light syrup. Then came creamed eggs and a locally made sausage. We did the port and chocolate tasting in the wine cellar at night and it was beautifully lit with candles. The chocolates were made in the kitchen at the inn. This is definitely the place to stay while in Hermann!!

My wife and I spent a long weekend at Alpenhorn Gasthaus to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I found this B&B in a list of the top 100 most romantic places to visit in America. The ranking was well-deserved! We stayed in a private room that is separate from the main house that provided a very special place for us to spend time together. The grounds of the B&B are well-designed and inviting for an outdoor visit. The optional dinner was fantastic, both food and service. The owners have thought of all details in decorating, needs in the room, information to share, tremendous food, etc. I highly recommend this B&B and the entire town of Hermann for your next romantic getaway.

Room Tip: Try to reserve one of the private rooms away from the main house.

There were eight ladies in our group and rented out all rooms except the smallest cottage. Each room was nice and comfortable. The place was amazing as well as our host Adrian and Kate. Even the two young ladies who were there helping with breakfast were amazing. We spent the day visiting wineries, we returned and used the hot tub for a bit, then into the wine cellar for the chocolate wine tasting. Great time, Adrian is so knowledgeable and fun. Didn't think I would like port wine, but after that tasting, I am definitely going to drink some occasionally. Kate's chocolates were to die for. Her breakfast was great and the 9:00 time was perfect for us. All eight of us enjoyed our time and thought this place was awesome. The little touches and thoughts, made us feel so welcome and part of there family. We enjoyed the robes to use at the hot tub, and the complimentary flip flops if needed. They also had homemade cookies made by Kate in the main room, and each of the bedrooms had complimentary chocolates. Would highly recommend to all. We loved, loved, loved this place.
