When you drive up Chris meets you at the door. She carefully walks you through the guest house showing you every detail you may need to know and then some. It was warm, welcoming and cozy. She made sure every detail, down to my husbands hatred of peanut butter unless wrapped in chocolate, was taken care of. She offered suggestions on lunch and we went to Vintage 1847, which by the way was amazing. After a day of wine tastings we came back to our cozy cottage and drank wine. The desserts she made were divine.

The Carriage house was nothing short of AMAZING! Our wonderful hostess, Cris, was so accommodating and an over NEAT lady! The carriage house is separate from the main house. It boasts a wonderful queen bed, a dining table, living area, 2 person jacuzzi, a Senseo coffeemaker (complete with imported teas, hot chocolate, coffee, and wonderful creamers), and exquisite decor. Cris left no stone underturned! You will find a delicious desert awaiting you in the evening. Ours was homemade cheese cake, with a homemade chocolate topping. For breakfast, you go to the main house and have a private breakfast for two. Everything was homemade and so amazing! We had an amazing fruit medley, coffee, orange juice, an amazing omelet, perfect potatoes, toast, and bacon. Everything was truly top notch! The carriage house sits off Hollyhock Allwy and is within walking distance of many great shops, bars, Hermanhoff winery, the wine trolley, and restaurants. Cris really goes above and beyond with her bed and breakfast! You will be itching to book another relaxing getaway as soon as you leave!

We stayed two nights at the beginning of Hermann's Oktoberfest, 2011. I wanted to book something special to celebrate my husband's birthday and retirement, and this ended up being the perfect spot! First off, there is only one guest room, and the owner (Chris) provided incredibly attentive and personalized service to make our stay special. We arrived in town by train, and Chris was there to pick us up. She took us on a brief drive around the area near her B&B so we'd be familiar with where things were and what we might want to look into the next day. Back at the Carriage House, we were ushered into a room with soft lighting and music, and antiques everywhere to transport us back in time for our stay. Chris spent plenty of time showing us where all the lighting controls were (you can set whatever mood you want with so many options!), how to "ignite" the electric fireplace, where the book and music collections were, how to control the jetted tub, how to use the coffee/tea/hot chocolate maker, and so on. The crowning touch were two beautifully presented pieces of freshly made chocolate cheesecake waiting for us in the refrigerator, which topped off the warm welcome.

We were escorted to the back yard patio, with an outdoor fire pit we could enjoy if we wanted to. Chris advised us to sit under the eaves if we were out there, since the overhead walnut tree provided sport for squirrels who enjoy targeting guests. Then, on to the glass enclosed eating area where we would go for breakfasts. This location was also filled with eclectic antiques and artwork, making for a beautiful dining spot. Chris listed several breakfast options and asked which we would like for our first meal, then off to bed.

Saturday's breakfast started with baked peaches in Jack Daniels sauce on a warm plate. There was a large glass of orange juice plus coffee, and a main course of custard French toast filled with cream cheese and topped with strawberries. There were delicious brats and bacon on the side. The table settings were delightful and gentle background music made for a wonderfully relaxing meal. As an added treat, Chris brought us a snack of sausages and asiago cheese rolls that we could use for a picnic lunch later that day (it turned out we were too full from breakfast, so we saved them for the train ride home the next day). She also presented my husband with a birthday gift of chocolates from a local shop, having noted our interest on the drive past the previous evening.

We spent a wonderful day in Hermann after breakfast, wandering some of the shops, touring some historic homes, touring one of several wineries, and finishing with dinner in town at one of the new restaurants Chris had recommended. Since Carriage House is located conveniently to downtown, we took a break partway through the day to go back for a short rest. In the evening, we enjoyed a relaxing soak in the jetted tub and finished off the chocolate cheesecake.

Sunday's breakfast started with banana pudding and sliced bananas, followed by baked pork chop and dressing, eggs cooked to order, toast and sliced Asian pears. Everything was paced wonderfully, and little details made dining there such a treat... fresh cream for the coffee, turbinado sugar, salt and two types of pepper in antique dishes with a tiny spoon to serve them, for example. Her grandmother used to have a restaurant and Chris mentioned learning some great tips from her, such as always serving cold food on a chilled plate, and hot food on a warm plate.

Attention to detail extended to the room, also. There were a dozen or so blankets, quilts and spreads of various types for our choosing. The bathroom was filled with thick, thirsty towels and wash cloths. Custom artwork was everywhere (Chris is also an artist, with her work displayed at a local gallery on 1st Street). A fresh bar of Ivory soap was presented on a domed, silver plate for use during our stay (not a hotel size, but a regular size handful). Many of the room lights were on dimmers so we could adjust lights and ceiling fan to our liking. There were small night lights around so we could find out way in the dark. There was even a first aid kit in the room in case it was needed. Chris made sure we had her cell phone number so we could call at any time while in town if we needed anything. So many interesting items in the room that we felt we had our own antique shop just steps from our bed!

By the end, we wished we could have stayed longer, but feared what would happen to our waistlines if we did. Better to enjoy the experience as a special treat, which it certainly was!

We stayed at the Carriage House during a Hermann Wine Trail. Chris, our hostess took care of our every need. She prepared a dessert for each evening we were there and the breakfast on both mornings were served at the time of our choice. She also consulted us with the menu. Everything about this cottage is wonderful. We thank our hostess for her part in giving us a very memorable visit to Hermann.

We stayed at Cady Carriage House because we were attending a wedding in this town and we liked what we saw on their website. The website was very accurate! So sorry we didn't have a reason to stay more than one night. The Cottage was very cozy and fun to stay in and the service was great! We arrived in a pouring rain and there were umbrellas waiting for us on the front porch!!! The double jacuzzi tub was fantastic, and there was a special treat (double chocolate cheese cake) waiting for us in our fridge when we arrived back after the wedding! The breakfast the next morning was so big and delicious we skipped eating any lunch that day! The owner was so gracious and friendly and helped us find the best places in town to visit before heading home! We will be sure to stay there every time we visit this town, in fact this place gives a reason to go back! Loved it!!!

Room Tip: Only one room in a seperate cottage from the owners house.
