Description: Built in 1878, the Concert Hall and Barrel is the oldest continually operating tavern west of the Mississippi. Today we proudly continue a time-honored tradition of good food and good times in Hermann, Missouri. Wednesday through Sunday, we serve lunch and dinner, featuring German specialties year-round. Our menu includes a wide selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, steaks, pizzas and seafood. Our sports bar is a place where customers can eat, drink and socialize while watching the latest televised sports events on our numerous television screens. We have four big TV screens, and when the patio is open we add another! We serve a wide selection of local wines, craft beers, spirits and signature drinks. As in days of old, the spacious second-floor Concert Hall can accommodate a large group for rehearsal dinners, anniversary parties, birthday parties, business meetings, and fundraisers. A private banquet room on the first floor may be reserved for smaller occasions. Located in historic downtown Hermann, Missouri, it's just a short walk from the Amtrak station, making it a great first or last stop in town.

“Great food....if you can get through the smoke.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2014

Ate there twice on a recent visit. We're used to Illinois and Wisconsin where smoking is NOT allowed in restaurants, so it was unfortunate to find that you go in through a smoke-filled and very noisy bar to reach the side-room for non-smokers. The ventilation is such that the smoke rolls around the doorways and pollutes the non-smoking area. The service was very slow on 2nd visit....had to flag someone down to get service in the non-smoking area....the couple who entered ahead of us got frustrated and left. They have good local beers on tap, and the pizza ranks VERY HIGH on our scale; enjoyed the fish-fry too.

“Open late”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2014

Looks old but that's ok, it is old. Basic bar with bar type foods. Schnitzel was good but red cabbage tasted like out of a jar. Service was prompt and attentive, but she was dressed slobbish. I wouldn't avoid this restraunt but there are other options that are better.

“Bar atmosphere but great burgers!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

The Barrel (as we locals call it) has more of a bar atmosphere and at times can be rather loud and rowdy even if you're seated on the "restaurant" side of the building. However, they have excellent burgers and a nice selection of German entrees. I don't drink but it looks like those that do imbibe enjoy what they're drinking. My biggest complaint is that I saw first hand that after a person has obviously had too much to drink and are glassy-eyed and smiling like a simpleton, the owners of The Barrel will continue to serve them booze. This really bothers me because when a person is beyond the ability to judge whether they should be drinking or not, the person making money from supplying drinkers with booze should tell them "no more" and take a little responsibility for the intoxicated person.

“More of a Bar”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2014 via mobile

We decided to go here as an alternative when another place was closed. It is more of a bar setting than we had thought. Food was average. I will say it was disappointing watching our waitress run ragged while, I'm guess the manager, sat on his butt by the bar. She needed some help and he didnt help.
