“Didn't stay there, but fantastic food”
Reviewed February 20, 2011

We didn't actually stay here at the B&B but we might be thinking of it in the future. We were looking for a place to eat lunch, and stumbled upon this place. Although, they were extremely busy with the Local Wine Trail going on, the service was fantastic. The brisket was the best my husband had ever tasted, and he's quite the BBQ "expert". My pulled pork sandwich was so tasty. We will definitely be going back whether we are staying in Hermann, or driving through.

“Worst service ever!”
Reviewed November 15, 2010

We were excited to eat here after reading the reviews. I really wanted to try the brisket. We got there around 6 p.m. on a friday. We were told they only had pulled pork left. The waitress was horrible!! She came back and asked what we would like. I said since you only have pulled pork that is what we will have. She couldn't answer any questions we asked (just a blank look) We asked for water and were served warm tap water w/ no ice. Actually the sandwiches were good and very spicy. There was one other table that was served after us and they got brisket. I don't now if they called ahead or what since we were told they were out. Will never go back!

“Get the Brisket Platter!!!!”
Reviewed October 25, 2010

OMG the only thing better than eating here was staying here and smelling the food the entire stay!!! The brisket was smoked to perfection, tender, and huge portions. The vinegar-based sauce was a spot-on complement to the meat. The twist on both the potato salad (mashed & mustard-based) and the cole slaw (cabbage, applely, delicious) are unique and tasty!

“Yum Yum Yum”
Reviewed August 3, 2010

Everything about Montague's is amazing. The meat is perfectly smoked and cooked. The portions are enormous and prices are reasonable. The service is friendly and attentive without being annoying. I wouldn't change a thing about this restaurant!

I particularly enjoyed the potato salad. It is creamy like mashed potatoes with all the typical flavors of a traditional potato salad. It is unusual and unexpected, especially in Hermann where German Potato Salad is much more prevalent.

The atmosphere is great too. Montague's is located in a historic building and most of the charm has been retained. I loved looking at the antique doors and windows.

“Hidden Gem”

Don't let the cover of this book fool you!
The food was great!
The brisket was tender and full of flavor. The baked beans and potato salad were like Mom used to make. The chicken salad wrap was excellent. The portions were such that we had to ask for a to-go container.
You won't be disappointed!
