We were part of a large group which had booked a private room at Lula Belle's. Because of that, we could choose from only a limited menu. My husband and I both chose prime rib, which turned out to be a huge mistake (although our tablemates all had the chicken, and also left on their plates). The salad was okay, although swimming in dressing. We each got a huge piece of meat, but it was tough and chewy. The baked potatoes had obviously been sitting around for a long time, and were very dry. We both left most of our meals on our plates and ended up eating after we got back from our evening out.
I have another complaint in addition to the poor food. We were sitting out in a covered porch area, which had ceiling fans. Unfortunately, the person who installed the fans put them under the lights, which caused flickering on the table and around the room. This may not sound like a big deal to most people, but when you are prone to car and sea sickness, it make for a very uncomfortable dining experience. The darker it got, the more pronounced the constant flickering. I was quite sick to my stomach by the time we left. I would not recommend Lula Belles. There are a lot of other choices in Hannibal, and I'm thinking that most of them would be much better.

Faded Victorian decor in this former bordello (closed by the city authorities in the 1950s) that is now a B&B and restaurant. Very nice grilled chicken breast, moist and flavorful, with garlic lemon sauce and lots of capers. Very good service.

Convenient, great atmosphere, and reasonably priced. I had the salmon and it was very good. The wait staff was friendly and dinner was fresh and hot! You can dress casually for this place!

After half a day of tromping around Hannibal and not much else to do before we left town, we decided to stop for dinner at Lula Belles for their Early Bird specials. We were the first ones in the restaurant at 4:30, but it was half-full by the time we left at 6:00 p.m. Our party of four was greeted as we entered and ushered right in to a table where we had a friendly server who provided helpful tips as we selected our entrees. The Early Bird dinners are approximately $11 for an entree, salad, and baked potato--along with a peel and eat shrimp plate for the table which had approximately 17-20 shrimp which was ample as an appetizer. Two salads were available--a house salad of mixed greens and a Caesar salad--and both were better than the average dinner salad at most restaurants. For entrees, we had two steaks and two chicken dishes. All were cooked as promised and accompanied by a loaded baked potato (except one steak which came with a twice-baked potato from the regular menu). The steaks were char-grilled. The chicken dishes were covered with interesting sauces that tasted quite good--one with lemon and prosciutto ham and the other with black olives and artichoke hearts. A loaf of home-cooked bread also was brought to the table. Service was attentive throughout the meal. The alcoholic drinks were properly made. We understand the restaurant's signature chocolate dessert is to die for, but we were too full to try it. Perhaps next time, because we would return.

Would have been nice to know beforehand. Might have planned things differently. Probably my own fault for assuming a restaurant would be open for Sunday lunch or brunch. Guess they didn't need our business.
