“Clean Hotel for one night stay”
Reviewed December 26, 2012

The outside of the hotel is very old, but the inside looks like they are trying to fix it up some. We booked and paid for a king size bed, but we got to the hotel late and were told they only there were only double beds left. We were very tired so took what was offered. The room was clean which was nice and beds were ok. Bathroom was exceptionally cold and shower was for very short people. As were the small towels, but since we only stayed one night it worked as it was very cold outside. The pool area looked like they have made some great changes and was large and very nice. In some ways the hotel reminded me of an older motel that was in sections, but this had a room over it. Breakfast was ok.

One of our two beds was not firmly grounded on the frame. You were unable to sit on either edge of the bed and the mattress would go south. Once again, the ice machine was broken; I'm not sure it is ever operational. The motel is clean and the breakfast is good.

Hotel looks rundown on outside. It looks like renovations are being done in several areas. The lobby is updated. The indoor pool area is nice. We booked 5 rooms. Our room was clean and beds were comfortable. Some members,of our group, stated the water didn't drain well in the tub,but we didn't have a problem in our room. Wehad a refrigerator and Microwave in our room. the wi-fi worked fine. Great breakfast included in room rate; Friendly staff. The price met the needs of our group. We stayed there 1 night on our motorcycle trip.

We were booked to stay at this hotel for an event and I must admit this was the most horrific place I have ever stayed at in my life. Broken glass everywhere, boarded up windows. Mattresses stacked in unused rooms. People living in some of the rooms with pets staring out the window like they are begging for help. Seriously this place could not pass code and should be shut down immediately!!

Room Tip: "Do not stay here!"

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at our hotel on TripAdvisor. We apologize that you found our property to be less than desirable. However, we regularly pass our inspections with all of the local authorities. As others have commented, there are rooms on the back of the property that we are not currently renting undergoing renovation, but there is not broken glass anywhere. Obviously, that would be inviting lawsuits if that was the case. On the entire 242-room property, there is one window panel boarded. Unfortunately, this does happen to be in a prominent place on the front of the building as we have encountered some difficulties in getting it repaired. We would’ve welcomed the opportunity to discuss your criticisms of our hotel and make your stay better with us prior to posting such exaggerations.

Al Patel

We've had these reservations for weeks. They knew a large group was coming yet they were unprepared. The "wing" we were on isn't always used but they did t really take measures to prepare for us. No hot water, wasp in bathroom, AC doesn't work quite right (thankfully we had cooler weather), we were charged more than we were quoted, water hadn't been in in a long time and was full of rust, finally there were plastic buttons/discs under the sheet from the mattress (?). Close to horseshoes but not worth it.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Hannibal Inn during your stay during the Knights of Columbus Horseshoe Tournament. We value your honesty, and we are thankful for the opportunity to respond to your concerns. I am very sorry that your stay with us did not measure up to your expectations. It is true that there was some miscommunication about the rates for the tournament. We were overwhelmed with everyone calling all at once to make their reservations before we had an opportunity to officially establish our policy.

Again, I do apologize that you were not satisfied during your stay.

Since I am broke and have an insatiable need to travel, I find myself constantly booking the cheapest hotel I can find and am usually pleasantly surprised to see what I end up with. Not so much in this case. We pulled up to the hotel to find a wooden board over one of the front windows. When we entered the lobby to check in, the proprietor was standing around and took about 5 minutes to notice that we were trying to check in. The room was very large, but the paint on the ceiling was peeling, there were cobwebs in the curtains, and the shower was wet (as though someone had just been using it) when we first entered our room. Our room was on the first floor and had a doorway to the outside and one that lead into the hotel hallway, but the lights in the halls were out and it was very dark. The door in the bathroom was too large for the door frame and had to be shoved shut (though it popped open somehow twice while I was in the shower... this only added to my feeling of the hotel being very Stephen King- Shining-esque) and there were splotches of red paint all over the walls. I will say that the room was very large, the TV had all the channels we could possibly need and while the actual hotel wifi wouldn't connect, I was able to connect to an unsecured network at the hotel across the street. It was dirty and a bit scary, but no serial killers managed to get us and we survived the night for a low price.

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to the criticisms of our hotel. Although, you are taking some creative liberties with your evaluation here, we admittedly do cut the power to certain sections of the hotel not being rented during slower days of the week in order to conserve energy. This should not be any inconvenience to our guests as there is no need to enter those areas when they are not being rented. We must occasionally make some sacrifices to continue operating such a large facility in a small town.

We pride ourselves on our exceptional service, and I was disappointed to see that we failed in your experience

I really loved this hotel. From the outside I was unsure what to expect, it didn't look like it would be bad, but didn't look super nice either. Inside the lobby was very nice! The front desk staff was foreign and a little hard to understand, but nice all the same. Off of the lobby opens up into an indoor courtyard type thing with the pool and other activities! Our room was nice. I'm sure it's nothing next to the Ritz, but it smelled clean, looked clean, and was clean! There was a microwave and fridge in our room, and the bathroom was spacious, with the sink and vanity inside the bathroom. There was an entrance to our room outside, as well as inside. And the price! The price was great! I didn't feel bad about spending $55 in it! Well worth it! Every hotel I've stayed at since just doesn't compare!
