We learned how to milk a cow and what happens with the milk afterwards. There was how to make animal food and showed the process and different ingredients. The dog show was amazingly exciting, they did all kids of tricks. The cat 'house' was so neat, it was multiple stories tall! Lots of different farm animals. The place was beautiful!

Very interesting attraction. We were treated to a dog show of tricks. THEre is a tour of the farm. The guides are very friendly asking lots of questions to get the children involved in the tour. It was a great way to spend the afternoon! A very FAMILY attraction...

Just a nice place to take young kids. It can be a little hectic w/busloads of kids running wild but nice experience for 1-10 year olds. It is not huge, I probably would only budget 2-4 hours at the farm. If a dog show is on the property, I would encourage you to go over and watch.

Our family of four visited Purina Farms in late October. Even though three school groups were visiting at the same time, we enjoyed the experience. The staff was friendly and nice enough to suggest that we start at the end of the farm to avoid the school groups!

The visit included a tour of the visitors center to see how dog / cat food is made; short movie explaining how to treat animals; hayride around the farm; barn with real farm animals... chickens, cows, goats, sheep, horses, pigs; three ponds with Koi; play area in the hayloft; cat house with beautiful examples of different cat breeds; dog area and show arena. Visitors center also houses restrooms, a gift shop and food vendor. The food is pricey however the total experience is free... so why not pay a little more for the food?

We enjoyed the experience and would recommend it for families passing through the St. Louis area. Gray Summitt is about 40 minutes south of St. Louis. The exit off I-44 isn't pretty... but don't let that stop you. The experience is well worth the trip!

Purina Farms is a wonderful, free adventure for the family, especially for young children. They have a great building that has a three story "cat house" and have cats and dogs available for petting. Kids can explore a barn filled with interesting creatures (and be able to pet some of them), can watch a cow being milked and play in the hay loft. They even have a free wagon ride and dog show. It's so nice to be able to take children to this place and explore for free. What a wonderful place.
