Went to Cardwell's in Frontenac last evening for a dinner meeting. The restaurant is located in Plaza Frontenac on the southeast end near Nieman Marcus. Inside the mall, the front of Cardwell's looks like an Abercrombie and Fitch (which made me giggle). Inside the restaurant, Cardwell's looks any number of nice local restaurants and bars.
There is plenty of table, booth, and bar seating. They even have a few alcoves (one of which was were we met) and separate rooms for private dining. It was a nice setup! Lighting in the open bar and restaurant area was pretty dim, but the alcoves and private dining rooms were well lit.
The menu was a nice array of soups, salads, entrees and included much variety. Drink menu was pretty standard (people in our group really enjoyed the white wine spritzers and sangria). There is also a large wine menu for purchase by the bottle.
Pluses: I did enjoy the French onion soup and the service was terrific! Our group also benefited by having a table in it's own alcove where we could accomplish some work during the meeting.
Minuses: For the prices, decor, and location, I just wasn't "wowed" by anything. This is a perfectly serviceable restaurant but nothing special.
If you are in the neighborhood and want to give it a try, then I think you should. I would definitely say no kids and bring your wallet!
