This was so amazing. The healing waters of the springs and the beautiful architecture was a great find. We stayed at the Inn on Crescent Lake which was wonderful !

“Art Deco Delight”
Reviewed March 14, 2014 via mobile

Beautiful Inlaid tiles and architectural details make this a beautiful building to enjoy. The water bar was very interesting, but there seemed to be a lost opportunity to actually serve fancy waters there. I would have bought one just to feel I was participating in the history of the place. The self guided poster history of the town and it's curative waters again was interesting, but I wanted to know more...perhaps a movie of the town's lively past? A very fun fact I learned from the posters was that the famous picture of Truman holding up the "Dewey Wins" headline was taken after Truman spent the night peacefully sleeping at Excelsior Springs The Elms Hotel. Fun to know we're staying at the same place!

It's a beautiful building. Definitely worth a look. There is a nice trail behind it leading to some of the old springs.

“informative & friendly”
Reviewed February 4, 2014

This was a very interesting free self-guided tour, although, the gentleman working was very informative, so it was more like a guided tour. I enjoyed learning about the history of the area.

“Must see, Great architecture of another time”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

It is hard to believe this building is not visited by more people. The terrazzo floors. The lighting. The tile work. Inside and out this is a wonderful structure. The young lady at the water bar was very pleasant and helpful. It was very interesting looking at the old photos and reading about a very important part of the past. It is a shame that the pool empty of water and in need of repair. At this time there are no plans to restore this area of the building to its former glory. At nearly eighty years old, buildings like this are becoming fewer each day. Very glad we drove up to Excelsior Springs to take some history. If you are in the area, take some time to stop in and look around.
