We really liked it. It is very quiet and private. It was also easy to get to once off the highway. The road leading to Blue Jay is a motorcyclists dream. Very curvy and hilly. Beautiful area. Susie the owner was sooo nice!

Blue Jay Farm is a great place for a short little vacation, especially if you want to take your four-legged best friend along with you. We stayed in First Cabin, and it is small but has everything you need. There are two barbeque pits - a gas and a charcoal one, a nice little kitchen, one small bedroom, but there is a futon in the living room that could sleep two people. It was clean, and we loved sitting out an the large porch, watching all the birds that gather around the bird feeders that Sue keeps well stocked. We especially enjoyed the hummingbirds and the yellow finches, but there were so many different kinds to enjoy. Sue had a bird book in our cabin to help us identify them, and there were games and cards in the cabin, which we enjoyed once it got dark. Lots of nice trails, a cave, canoes available for the guests, shuffleboard, and our hostess was so welcoming. We had a great time, and so did our dog.

Room Tip: September was a terrific time to go. The weather was a little cooler, so we were able to hike a lon...

Blue Jay Farm is a lovely property with amazing landscapes in the foothills of the Ozarks near Rolla, Mo. My dogs loved swimming in the lakes and it's nice to be able to take a vacation with your dogs. There is nothing in the whole world that can make you feel more refreshed and revived then a heavy dose of clean mountain air and the soothing sound of silence. Sue is a great host and I would recommend this place highly. What a wonderful getaway and so close to St Louis.

Room Tip: Camping at its finest in a cozy cabin

We visited in September of 2010 and had the place to ourselves. The water was too cold to swim but our dog loved it. Very Dog Friendly
We returned in July 2011 and were able to swim in the spring lake. Our dog loved it! We had the 'First Cabin' both times. Nice balcony but lots of wasps. They have wasp spray out and about.
Fishing is good and the lake is stocked annually. Fun for a long weekend but wouldnt go for more than that. Nice alternative to camping and more secluded.
Ask Suzie for the fresh eggs and butter
