An uncontrollable craving for a pizza and house salad at De Soto Pogolino's has me visiting this small town family restaurant at least weekly. All pizzas are made from scratch, as are the sauces and salad dressings, and the tasty dishes reflect that homemade touch.
While my four children count among their favorites the house salad, the potato treats, the roast beef sandwich, and the hot wings, I find myself consistently ordering the pizza; it calls me. But I'm also a sucker for the poagie, a hot cheese-laden salami and ham sandwich that offers no apologies for the abundance of calories. "Go ahead!" it says, "I'm worth it!" And it is, every single time.
Other Pog's favorites are the broccoli rigatoni, lasagna, and spaghetti. YUM! All recipes were developed by Shirley and Don Pogue, who founded Pogolino's and then passed the business on to their daughters, Jean and Terri. Terri runs the De Soto store, and the atmosphere is family friendly, familiar, and casual.
As testimony to the quality of the food, service, and experience, many current and former employees visit this place on a regular basis, never tiring of the food or the company.
Or maybe, it's because there's just nothing like a Pog's pizza!
