“Noisy pipes, poor customer service.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2007

This place looks great and the rooms are large clean and comfortable. Sounds good right? Wrong.

The pipes are not insulated at all and if someone in the building uses a sink, tub, or toilet you here it. Not too bad at 3 int he afternoon but at 1 AM it got old real fast.

Problem #2 is that the customer service is terrible. I was told in advance that as a Priority member they would extend my check-out. When I asked about it the night before we were due to leave the manager acted like they had never done such a thing and stated that their crews needed to be able to get things done so they could get home. I'd love to tell people that at my job.

Without the two above problems I would stay at this place again but with those things in mind I would suggest trying another location.

We are experienced travelers, and this was our first time at a Staybridge. It was a good choice because we were in St Louis for a week with a child and wanted separate bedrooms and a kitchen. On other trips we stayed at competitor Residence Inn, and were surprised to see one next door - nice way to compare the brands. (Pick Staybridge - lots of freeway noise at Res Inn). We had plenty of room to move. It feels almost like an apartment building - quiet, good landscaping, just two stories, and parking right near the room. Hey, it's not the Ritz, but the rates are a very good value. The area seems very safe too - between upscale business complexes and residential neighborhoods. Breakfast is good, and plenty. We had a few glitches - the A/C went out one night during 100 degree weather, weren't told you had to ask for room cleaning on weekends, and the hot tub was broken for weeks - but management was helpful, understanding and responsive to feedback. You get a lot for your money here, and I would recommend this place.

After taking 45 minutes to check-in (without an apology for the wait), I was sorely disappointed with the room. We were on the 2nd floor of one of the buildings, so we got to drag all our bags upstairs. The room smelled majorly musty, and we had to slam the door to get it to stay shut. In doing so, we must have caused the dust (which was covering everything) to go flying. There appears to have been a fireplace in the room at one time, however, it looks to have been sealed off (with a piece of soot-stained glass?) some time ago. The kitchen looks like it was lost in the 80's (the microwave was manufactured in 1989), the refridgerator comes with you when you try to open it, and only after lots of searching did we find the dishwashing powder for the rust-stained dishwasher. There was no DVD player present anywhere in the room (isn't this a Staybridge standard?), and the cordless phone appeared to be missing. One of the chairs for the dining-seating appeared to be burnt or something, and the outlet covers next to the dining seats was chipped/broken. In the bedroom, the desk was sitting at a very weird angle, the arms were missing from the chair, and only after rummaging around on the floor, did I figure out that the DSL was unplugged and had to be plugged in. The bathroom sink drips constantly, and the toilet looked less than clean. When we pulled out the sofa-sleeper, the sheet on it was extremely wrinkled and had crumbs all over it, the bedding bag for it seemed less than spectacular as well. On the plus side, the room was at a chilly 60 degrees when we checked in. All-in-all, not what I've come to expect from a Staybridge as a Gold Prioirty Club member that stays in Staybridge hotels exclusively.

I'm a bit of a fan of Staybridge Suites in general but this one is my favourite. Rooms are quite spread out as the buldings are only 2-storey but you can park right outside your room and it has the feeling of staying in a residential street. A real home-from-home. Annoyingly far away from downtown but well situated for forays west of town - particularly into MO wine-growing territory (and don't miss Meramec caverns with its distinctly non-computerised light show - got to love it!).

This is a well maintained, attractive property with just a few glitches. High Speed Internet access was problematic and speed was standard DSL, best I could get was 120 kb/sec. Breakfast every day was great but happy hour snacks which I made into Dinner happens on Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday. You get light housekeeping every day (straightening up and towel changes) and full housekeeping once during your visit/every 7 days. The WorkOut Room has a very nice treadmill accessable 24/7 as well as a stairstepper and several lifecycles. The Grocery store (Dierbergs) was only 1.5 miles South on Craig Road and we went there often to pick up our sodas and snacks and made dinner occasionally in the kitchnette. Felt just like home except we didn't have to make breakfast. The hotel's central location was great for visiting my old neighborhoods, schools and friends in University City, Florissant, the Hill, in Forest Park (Zoo, Art Museum, Jewel Box), Downtown and Columbia, Ill. Wish I could have stayed longer to see the Fall Leaves change color. Will be back again in Spring with more family.

For the rates this hotel charges, it is absolutely fabulous!! My family stayed in a two bedroom suite while attending a conference in St. Louis. Though it was a bit of a drive for us it was well worth it. You pay almost a third of what you would pay downtown for a room twice as large. They include a hot breakfast, dinner during the week and all the amenities you would want in a long stay hotel.
The lady at the front desk was absolutely wonderful. I think her name was Elana. She was so helpful. She put us in a room that was suppose to be non-smoking but smelt like smoke and when I notified her she quickly had someone bring us our keys to the new room which was just perfect.
This is an excellent place to stay for anyone on a budget and with kids. You get way more than what you pay for. Which is very rare these days. There's lots of restaurants in the area and front desk is more than happy to give you a list of restaurants. For all the seafood lovers try Bistro.

AC is very quiet... it is the central type. The property is well managed... clean and kept up well. The service, front desk, food crew, maintenance and facilities were all friendly, prompt, and effective.
Rooms are very clean and well serviced. All supplies that I supposed were there were there even though I did not cook anything.
They have a free laundromat for those inclined to wear clean clothes which is a nice touch. My unit had a separate bedroom and a living/kitchen area which is a nice touch when traveling and gives a "at home" feel.
Breakfast was advertised to open at six but the breakfast crew allowed my early arrival without a fuss and let me serve myself.
They were fully ready easily 30 minutes prior to the advertised start time.
The breakfast crew had a Eastern European accent?
Cable channel selection is much better than most full service hotels.
Free high speed internet is an added treat. Local phone calls are free and is a rare commodity now-a-days. Very pleased with Staybridge in St. Louis. I wished Candlewood would adopt the Staybridge design.
