Good bargain for the money...clean facilities and courteous staff.
Surprisingly quiet for proximity to interstate highways.

The non-smoking room reeked of stale smoke so badly that the night clerk offered us another room without us asking. Nice, but why hadn't the housekeeper inspected? The wifi code told to us at the front desk and confirmed by a xeroxed sheet in the room wasn't explicit enough to get a connection. The morning desk clerk gave us the correct directions. Nice, but why wasn't the night clerk trained? The people up stairs were a good alarm clock--as soon as they started walking across the floors we were awake. Why weren't the carpets better padded? Lots of "whys" and the answer is the same: bad management that can't be bothered running this motel well. Once upon a time the Ramada chain stood for something. After many encounters in many cities, I'm afraid it now stands for "stay away unless every other place is full."

Room Tip: Smell for smoke before you unpack.

I stayed at the Ramada recently during a trip to the University of Missouri. I was a bit leery because the rate was so low, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The hotel was serviceable, with some unexpected bright spots. For example, the room was equipped with a flat-panel Sony Bravia television and offered a full range of other amenities, such as a refrigerator, coffee supplies and a comfortable king-size bed. The wireless Internet was free, but the connection was spotty. I'm in the habit of traveling with a personal hotspot, so that didn't phase me.

The location is convenient (right off the interstate). It's just a short drive from the university and there are tons of shopping and restaurant options nearby.

Just be warned that the interstate location also means that you will hear noise from the highway. I had a poolside room, with traffic just beyond, but I don't believe being on the other side would provide much noise reduction. This didn't pose a problem for me and sleeping, but others might want to bring ear plugs.

Also note, the windows just had blackout curtains, so if you want to let light in there are no sheers to block the view from prying eyes. This may be an issue if you are on the first floor. Guest parking is just outside your window.

The free breakfast was nothing special, but there was a selection of cereals and fruit, which definitely do in a pinch -- and especially at this price. Other choices included biscuits with sausage gravy, toast, waffles and breakfast pastry.

If you can get a great rate, it's worth a visit.

Room Tip: Pick one on the second floor to avoid prying eyes.

It wasn't the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in, but it was just ok.
Staff at the front desk wasn't very eager to accommodate my needs.

I was a little skeptical since the rate was much lower than other hotels in the area of comparable rating. However, pleasantly surprised as it greatly exceeded our expectations. Very clean, quiet, friendly and helpful staff and varied breakfast options. As noted in other reviews, not updated furnishings, but not an issue for a comfortable stay.
