“Interesting place, Good food and service for our lunch”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

We darted in here for lunch on a whim, and were taken by the interesting setting with semi-revealed brick walls and general feel of antiquity. Service was relaxed but friendly and attentive. We had a beer, served up in a nicely frosted glass, and shared a fresh summer squash soup, which was bright and subtly spicy with a lingering heat on the finish, and a pasta with mushrooms and other goodies, which was rich and luscious.

Charming setting, warm and helpful server, and some really good food, without getting all upscale and snooty about it. We'll be back.

“A great surprise in Columbia”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

Why did it take me so long to find this place?

I've been twice this week -- once for lunch and once for dinner -- with others, and I was able to see and taste several dishes.

Trey Bistro is certainly one of the best places in Columbia. It was on par (but not as expensive) with a similar bistro in San Francisco I struggled to get seated in last month a few blocks off Union Square. Actually, Trey Bistro might do better closing in Columbia and reopening in San Francisco as it was only half full on a Saturday night!

Atmosphere and service is great. I can say that the seafood, pasta and pizza are excellent. Two desserts we tried are great.

“High hopes & disappointing”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

All that we had heard of the small plates and the flavors and the feel of the place, well . . . it was a let down. Service was challenged and distracted. The beverage never came and finally another server was found who brought it to us. (Not at all busy on a Friday eve at 730PM) Risotto was fair but without punch (Lobster was dried out with only modest flavor,) pizza had a creeping heat and failed to include the meat, bean soup was good but also without the promised meat. No salt and pepper on the table (the food needed it) and we got up and fetched it ourselves as the wait staff never seemed to notice. Our served didn't seem to notice that he hadn't picked up our ticket, didn't notice when we departed and overall -- didn't notice, again, even though the place was rather dead. No return for us!

“Will Be Back”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

We had an excellent meal with very good service. It's great to see a local chef doing well with his new place. The atmosphere was good and brought back memories of Trattoria Strada Nova (man, I miss that place) one of the previous occupants. We will definitely return.

“A new gem in CoMo!”
Reviewed March 3, 2013 via mobile

We visited for dinner on the Sunday of theTrue/False Film Fest. My husband had the filet and I the scallops. Both were cooked perfectly! The beef was tender and flavorful and the scallops had that buttery soft texture that so rarely is done right! The owner spoke with us and told us everything is locally sourced when possible and was sure to relay our compliments to his chef. Perfect dinner and I hope this restaurant will still be there for our next nice evening on the town!
