Not Happy with the Dinner Companions that we were seated with. Too many people in such a small space, noisy and I don’t know how ANYONE could consider this romantic. Service was minimal, had to ask for everything including refills of water. Scenery was mostly trees and fields, nothing much else to look at. Food was adequate, nothing more; again had to ask for everything. Baked potatoes with no sour cream, Prime Rib and no horseradish had to ask again, halfway through meal when finally received.
We don’t plan on ever going back; had friends that wanted to know of our experience, don’t think they will be coming either!

My husband and i were on the evening dinner train yesterday and had a much different experience than other reviews I read. the dining car next to ours where the restrooms are located lost a/c halfway through the trip. In the 90+ degrees and humidity of a mid-Missouri summer, it was not pleasant. They seemed short staffed , so service was very slow. The appetizer, salad ( ridiculously small portion, like maybe half a cup), and dessert were fabulous. The entree was a huge disappointment. We had the prime rib (very mediocre), greasy green beans, a baked potato that was very undercooked and rolls that were tough. The train moves very slow and the landscape is blah..... Just a huge disappointment, especially for the price we paid.

We went with another couple and it was a great time. The food was outstanding and the ride was relaxing and not rushed. The servers were great.

Romantic and very nostalgic. Food was outrageously good! Nice lighting on the outside of the train to see the countryside after sunset. Was a pretty time of year to ride the train because the leaves were still off the trees and you could see better.

We celebrated my birthday aboard the dinner train run. As for the dinner itself it was very well prepared and presented. We did the smart thing and order one of each of the entrees to share. The train was wonderfully restored and a relaxing ride. The only slight fault I give it is that the entire time you are at the dinner table. I would have liked moving to another car to sit in regular seats to enjoy the quietness of the ride and to be lulled by the rocking of the rails.
