Owner description: Just minutes from Columbia, Rock Bridge Memorial State Park gives visitors the chance to scramble, hike and bicycle through a scenic environment – and lets them peek into Missouri’s underworld. The park contains some of the most popular hiking trails in the state and also offers solitude while hiking in the Gans Creek Wild Area. Visitors can also see a large cave system with its rock bridge, sinkholes, a spring and underground stream at the Devil's Icebox. You can explore Connor's Cave in the light of the opening for a taste of the underground world.

Home of the Devil's Ice Box, Rock Bridge is a fun park to visit. The cave is really neat! I always take Columbia visitors to Rock Bridge. It is my favorite park in the area.

Rock Bridge State Park is a HUGE state park with several scenic trails and attractions. The most famous and best trail is the one that takes you past Boone Cave and Devils Ice box. If you have never heard of Devils Ice box it gets its name because of the very cool temperatures that stay all year round. You can go in the middle of summer on a 100 degree day and as you descend down to the cave you will start to feel the refreshing coolness of the air. There is a creek that flows through this cave that travels several miles back. You can go with an exploration group if you are daring enough to explore. Besides Boone cave there are plenty of other trails both natural and boardwalk, you can go to this park over and over again and always find a new adventure. This is one of my favorite places to visit in Summer and Fall !! If you you are visiting Columbia Missouri you can get more information on this attraction plus others at http://www.hotelscolumbiamissouri.com . You can find park maps on the website their website as well as directions!

This was our second visit to RBMSP. Our first visit was a short afternoon when we were traveling through Columbia on our way from St Louis to Kansas City. This time the park was our destination. We drove in for an afternoon of hiking and had a blast. We took the Spring Brook Trail around to the Sinkhole trail. The weather could not have been any better, especially in February, and we had a great time with our young son admiring the scenery and playing along the trail.

The Rock Bridge itself and the nearby caves are fascinating and I look forward to returning when our son is old enough to really explore the park.

I would recommend this park to anyone in the area. It has short (0.3 mile) and long trails (8.5 mile) as well as picnic areas and even a playground.
