Nice hotel. Very comfy beds and pillows. Our annual trip to Columbia we have stayed at Comfort Suites, this year we had gift certificates so thought we would try something different. Very nice desk staff. When we arrived earlier than we thought we would, he was able to find a clean room for us, which was unexpected but appreciated. Night one, very good sleep. Night two, different story. We were on 2nd floor and there was some kind of "Live after 5" party going on in their banquet hall. The music was so loud that the a/c couldnt cover it up. I asked the front desk staff about it and she said it ended at 1 am! She offered to give us a new room but at this point it was 9:30pm and my kids were already showered, pjs on, and we had been there since the day before. I thanked her and we will grin and bear it I just wish they would have told us when we checked in about the proximity to the party. SO if you stay there on a Friday night, ask about the party and don't stay on the 2nd floor. The pool was really small, but wasn't over occupied while we were there. No complimentary breakfast, but its close to lots of restaurants like Bob Evans or Panera at the mall. We would stay there again.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We strive for the utmost in ever facet of service. Your high ratings for us are very flattering. It is very very rare that we host gatherings, and nowadays we don't let meetings like those run that late. Our meeting rooms are usually only used from noon until 9am at the latest. Thank you for your input!

We weren't there long, but what we experienced was lovely. The room was large. The Queen beds were really comfortable. The pool was fun for the kids. The location was easy to get to. We had a refrigerator and a microwave in the room which was really convenient. The facilities were clean and nicely appointed. I would stay here over many other hotels that include breakfast. Even though it didn't include breakfast, it was cheaper and nicer than hotels that do include breakfast, and you can eat in the hotel or easily use the $ you save to buy food and bring it in. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very quiet---almost soundproof. I highly recommend this facility.

Room Tip: I always ask for the top floor away from ice, vending and elevators---helps reduce noise.

Every hotel I stay at fails on usually all three but certainly on at least one of these must-have comforts from home: pillow-top mattress, the shower head 7 feet off the floor, and a ceiling light in the shower. This is the first time I've encountered a hotel to get all 3 of these things right! I didn't have to crouch over or arch backwards limbo-style to wash my hair, the shower wasn't the dark cave that most are because there was a light in the ceiling, and the bed actually felt more comfortable than the typical 'slab-of-concrete' that you get in most hotels thanks to the pillow-top mattress. This is a very new hotel in Columbia, MO (as of June 2011). Very nice, spacious rooms, nice lobby and restaurant, and pleasant service. I recommend it! This Holiday Inn (as I'm told there are 2 in town) is on the east end of town, immediately off of exit 131 (right along the freeway).

We stayed here by chance when they first opened, and make a point to stay here anytime we pass through. The decor is modern and very tasteful. The hotel is outside of downtown so it is quiet and dark. The breakfast is great and the staff has always been friendly, helpful, and they go out of their way to accommodate your needs. Recommend this over the older Holiday Inn closer to downtown- it is worth the few extra minutes' drive.

Stayed in a corner king room--very clean, bed extremely comfortable. Room was good sized, and everything worked as it should. Only problem was that there was some type of youth group staying there, and there were a couple of dozen teenage boys screaming, (drowning out the a/c) playing football (and hitting people's cars) just underneath our window at 11 PM. It took two calls to the front desk over the course of an hour before the party was broken up and we could finally sleep.

We have a 10pm curfew and it seems they had escaped without our notice. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will be more diligent in the future.

I stayed one night for business in a corner king room. The room was new and spotless with a great TV and everything working like it should. I ate a steak in the bar and the food was cooked to order and tasty. The bartender was friendly and carried on conversations with numerous patrons and was quick to fill drinks and respond to requests. The front desk staff was friendly and was able to provide directions to my business appointment. The internet was free as in all HI's but the reception was above average providing good speed. I will definitely stay here again when I am in Columbia.

This is now my third experience in these new-era, super-duper Holiday Inns, and generally, I like the execution. I've observed cheap construction at other locations; it doesn't seem to be as much of an issue here.

So if you want new, check. Clean, check. Free parking and free Internet, check and check. As a somewhat frequent reviewer, I recognize that I perhaps haven't given a big enough shout-out to the hotels that offer free wireless. Sure, charging for it is a great way for hotels to raise $$ with very little apparent cost, but more and more, I think it's going to become a deal-breaker. So, kudos to Holiday Inn Columbia East and others for not assessing a fee for it. Is it the speediest service in the world? No... but it's free.

Its I-70 adjacency scores it some more points for convenience. I never eat at restaurants in hotels and am perplexed by able-bodied people with cars who do. So skip the one here; there are plenty of restaurants around.

This is a very good hotel; I predict it will move up in the Columbia rankings.
