During our stay, we took advantage of St. Martin's moniker as "culinary capital of the Caribbean." We dined out at multiple nice places. We chose Le Santal for our anniversary night. First of all, as many reviewers have already said, the view of the water, and Anguilla, especially from one of the balcony tables is amazing. In my opinion, it even rivals the other amazing sea views in Grand Case. The food was high end French. We enjoyed raviolis with morels, escargot, châteaubriand (for two- AMAZING!) and a chocolate soufflé for two (also amazing). For us, with wine and everything, it was significantly more expensive than some of our other meals. However, we budgeted for it and for us it was worth it. There was nothing wanting with the food or the service. If you go during the low season, you will have the advantage of having very personal service. (I'm sure it's great during the high season, too, but I can't personally attest to that). It is a very romantic spot as well (as one can imagine from the many descriptions in multiple reviews). As for getting there, it's easy. I would argue that some reviews overdo it with the description of getting there. It's about the length of 2 long city blocks through a residential neighborhood. Because it's residential, there are lots of cars parked along the street and locals hanging out with each other or walking. If you've driven the 2 block one-way loop to get to the Grand Case dining street, it's nicer and easier (more roomy) than that. Highly recommend.
