We stayed at Seven Gables Inn for 2 nights while in town for a wedding. We were only 1/2 block from St. Joseph Catholic Church, so very convenient to the church. Short walk to several restaurants. There was an Irish pub, Molly Darcy's, in the hotel - very good for drinks, a little slow with the food service, great band the night we were there. Very large room, large comfy bed. Hotel has lots of character. 3 stories, steep steps, no elevator, so if accessibility is an issue, ask for a room on the first floor. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Steep steps, no elevator. Get room on first floor if accessibility is an issue.

This is a cute old hotel in Clayton with very friendly staff. There is a small Irish bar in front with a couple of local tap handles including Four Hands and Boulevard. The bar also services the inner courtyard, a quaint little area with vines and trees. Our room was just off the courtyard and we were afraid it would be too noisy on our first night, but the crowd dispersed by 10pm.
The neighborhood has several upscale restaurants within a two block walk.
Parking seemed a little high at $17, but the streets were all metered and we were warned not to park for street cleaning in the middle of the night.
The room was big, the wifi was fast, the shower was nice, the cookies were warm and gooey, but most of all the staff was great.

The staff are really friendly and have knowledge of the city. The room was very clean and big. Free wifi and fiji water in the rooms. Shower/bath was clean great shower. Breakfast was nice coffee, fruit/cereal/Danishs or egg bacon muffins. Nice area two of us walked around at about 2100 with no worries.

Found a Living Social deal for a night's stay at the Seven Gables Inn in Clayton. We live about an hour and half away - so it seemed like a great quick jaunt to get out of town to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary (which both occur in the same week).

Every part of our stay was fantastic. Making a reservation was very easy and the lady who worked with me was very pleasant. Clayton is a lovely little suburb - I had never really been before. We parked on the street so we didn't pay the $17 valet charge, but that doesn't seem crazy for parking (I was in Chicago last week and it was $50 a night!).

Check in was easy - the Inn is lovely and very welcoming. Warm chocolate cookies were AMAZING. We had a queen room on the second floor which was small but lovely. No elevator - so be prepared for that.

Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were waiting on us when we arrived to our room - my sister had called ahead and had them delivered - both were lovely.

Only "bad" part of the room - the smoke detector was beeping when we arrived - we changed for dinner and left - telling the front desk on our way out - they said they would take care of it - however upon return at midnight it was still beeping - rather than call again, we took the battery out and went to sleep. :)

The bed was very comfy and they have great pillows.

All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our time and would definitely go back - it was a nice change from the "normal" hotel experience we typically have in the STL area.

Room Tip: No elevator.

I don't even know where to start. The women at the front desk was amazing! We had just came from our wedding so we had brought our leftover cake along with all our other stuff and she helped carry it all to the room. Even a server from the restaurant cam to help. The room blew me away. I felt like it was an apartment not just a hotel room. Keep in mind this is a old hotel. There is some wear and tear but if you want something with charm and want to stay some where unique then this is the place!

I have a fear of running out of golf balls and booze. You will not run out of booze at the quaint Seven Gables as within the charming historical inn is a very nice Irish bar with an interior courtyard as well as sidewalk seating. If you like history you will enjoy this place.
The staff were great, a waitress from the pub actually helped me as I was waiting at the check in desk. The valet was especially friendly and helpful with the car and the luggage. We look forward to our next visit.

I had seen this Inn pop up on a few travel sites, and was curious. So very glad we gave it a try. It felt more like a European Inn, than anything you would expect in a City downtown. Quaint, charming, with a country feel. We received a very nice "warm cookie" welcome and the hotel employee was quite helpful. Room was larger than expected. It was a good value for the money. Centrally located to the shopping and restaurants of Clayton, the Loop and surrounding areas. Hope our next stay is not a Sunday night, as the neat little Pub off the lobby isn't open on Sunday nights.
