Loved this hotel. It's in a great location, right in downtown Clayton. The decor is very quaint but manages to be modern, quiet, and clean at the same time. Staff very friendly, too.

Reviews on this site are usually pretty accurate. However, our stay at Seven Gables Inn was disappointing. Like the last reviewer said, the a/c was loud and ran every minute we were there. The room smelled musty and was as dark as a dungeon. Our bed was extremely comfortable, but that is about the only positive thing I can say about our stay. I would not return.

Having stayed at a B&B not too far away 10 days earlier, we were suprised by the three tax items of over 15% plus parking surcharge although they were identified at the bottom of the reservation after booking. Thus ~25% above the room charge was taxes and parking. The previous B&B had one tax of 8.5% and no parking fee.

Th A/C in room 315 was loud and insufficient such that an additional fan was supplied to try ro cool the room.

Other amenities were as described and would have been a nice stay except for the taxes, parking costs, and AC noise.

Seven Gables was perfect for taking care of all of our out-of-town family and guests in St. Louis for my son's wedding. Stacey Wallace was very helpful in getting the welcome baskets to the room, preparing the rehearsal dinner and wine/cheese party. Convenient to everything. We loved it!

Room Tip: The courtyard view rooms are the best. Also, for elderly or handicapped, choose a first floor room.

Spent four nights at the Inn on a business trip. Room was clean, very spacious, quiet. St. Louis was extremely hot that week, but the air conditioner was not noisy and didn't labor to keep the room nice and cool. Nice touches like a pedestal fan and more channels on the TV than the chains offer. Pub downstairs was great. Continental breakfast was very good, fresh fruit for cereal was a nice touch. I'd definitely stay here again.
