Following an intense period of work and a knee operation Bloomfield was a fantastic place to rest and take stock. The staff were friendly and helpful, the casual environment was relaxing and yet the trips were informative and just the right length. We enjoyed the communal dining and meeting other travellers. The rooms were comfortable, quiet and clean with very private balconies. I would recommend this oasis to anyone touring Australia as a chance to take time out and rest before hurtling on to the next stop.

My wife and I chose to stay at Bloomfield Lodge during our 43 day round the world trip due to its association with Trailfinders who booked much of our travel, and for the excellent TripAdvisor reviews. We were not disappointed in any way. Courtney and Ben, the co-managers, were particularly welcoming and helpful but all the staff were friendly and very professional.
The food was of excellent quality and it was very enjoyable to have communal dining with the other guests. I was particularly grateful to the staff for regularly supplying me with alternative starters or main courses to replace the fish or seafood that unfortunately I do not like.
We particularly enjoyed the river trip with Gary where we rescued a motor bike from the river, and the day out to the Barrier Reef with Shane. Snorkelling on the Barrier Reef near Hope Island is not to be missed; I hope that the pictures that we took with an underwater camera capture the amazing colours of the reef and the fish. I will not spoil the surprise of the enjoyable trip to the Falls with Paul, during which you also hear about aboriginal life.
We were glad that we chose the helicopter transfer option to get to and from Bloomfield Lodge from Cairns for the amazing scenery that you get to see on the way. It is more expensive but in our view well worth it.
If we return to Australia we will certainly return to Bloomfield Lodge.

Room Tip: We were very happy with our choice of a Queenslander room

We visited in mid February and despite it being the rainy season, we only had brief showers on two of the nights of our 5 night stay. Although hot in the afternoons, the nights were pleasant and sleeping was not a problem with the high ceiling and overhead fan of our Queenslander Room. The lodge is delightful, the staff friendly and outstanding with no request seemingly too difficult, including finding us an elusive green tree frog, and the food delicious also allowing for particular preferences (cous cous replaced by wonderful steamed vegetables). The photos do not do justice to its location. And for those fisherpersons (or would be!) the jetty is a great place to catch something decent (including the chance for a trophy barramundi) and the staff are more than willing to help. A memorable trip to a unique part of Australia.

We had 4 nights here in January (monsoon season). There were 3 of us, 2 Queenslander rooms. Our views as follows:
Friendly staff greeted us on arrival, rooms very comfortable, atmosphere very relaxed, rooms not locked. Communal eating although we chose to have a separate table which they were happy to sort. Food exceptional standard although we found breakfast a little disappointing not enough choice. Little to do in the lodge if weather wet, sadly weather too bad for the barrier reef trip, the rainforest walk was a non event and only walked a few metres, however the crocodile boat trip was enjoyable. Overall: Perfect if you are happy with doing absolutely nothing but be aware if you choose to go in the rainy season you might not get to do the trips and take your mossie repellent!

This was our third visit in two years, SO IT MUST BE GOOD. A beautiful unique place. The rooms have character and are comfortable. The swimming pool is very good. The staff are all so friendly, helpful and polite and obviously enjoy working there. The food is 5 star and the chefs , Bianca and Russell are just superb chefs. The only complaint about the food is, it is that good you come away from there a few pounds heavier. The tours are very good ie croc spotting. The fishing is excellent too.If you want a relaxing holiday in a unique hotel in a beautiful part of the world, Then this the place to go.

Room Tip: Try for a Quennslander and above grade they are worth that little extra.

We stayed at Bloomfield Lodge in 2010 for our honeymoon. We stayed 7 nights. Overall, the experience was beautiful but overpriced. When Bianca was the chef, the food was the best we have ever experienced, meal after meal. My husband, who never eats fish, happily enjoyed even Bianca's seafood dishes. She is the best chef we have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The food from the other chef was generally good, but certainly not up to the price tag.

When we stayed, the hosts were Keith & Michelle. Keith was friendly and approachable, even coming out to help us with our fishing early in the morning. However, we felt the service from hostess Michelle was abrupt, and at times patronising. Michelle constantly badgered us about recording our self-serve drinks from the bar. We felt this was inappropriate, especially given the very high price we were paying for the experience.

We were also regularly kept out of our room for 1-2 hours every day for cleaning. We felt this could have been done less intrusively, again, given the price charged for our stay. We have stayed in many other places where housekeeping was provided less intrusively. We were often stuck outside in the sweltering heat due to poorly-timed housekeeping duties.

The tour guides were excellent. Very knowledgeable and friendly. They were clearly enthusiastic about the beautiful natural wonders seen around the lodge. Shane and Paul were fantastic guides, very friendly and answered many of our questions to a very high standard.

The nature walk was quite hard going (steep with ropes to pull ourselves up in many places), and there was a surprising lack of easy nature strolls, with crocs lounging on all the beaches. The only short, easy-terrain walk was the short stroll to the rocky turtle area.

Room Tip: If you are spending this much you may as well get the best room - the spa was amazing!

Dear B S

Thank you for taking the time to post a review about your stay with us on your honeymoon in 2010. The team at Bloomfield Lodge are always seeking feedback as it's only with this that we can achieve the incredibly high standards that we pride ourselves on.

We're pleased to read that you enjoyed the Lodge's beautiful and stunning location and the outstanding cuisine we offer. Our long term chefs Bianca and Russell are still with us and have accrued a combined service time of over twenty years at the lodge, they are both still producing wonderful fresh dishes. Whilst they have worked together for a very long time they are both individuals and have subtly different styles of cooking so our guests may sometimes prefer one chef over the other.

Initially the tariff to stay at Bloomfield Lodge may look high, however, when you break down the experience you will find tremendous value. The package price includes an amazing 40 min scenic flight from Cairns over the World Heritage Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Marine Park, not once but twice when you arrive and depart. Full board, first class dining with no expense spared to source the finest and freshest local ingredients that we can. It is then flown by plane and boated over to the lodge as there are no roads to the property. For anyone who stays 4 nights or more receives a comprehensive and complimentary guided walk through the World Heritage Daintree Rainforest and a cruise up the Bloomfield River on our custom built vessels.

Keith and Michelle are no longer with the team at Bloomfield Lodge however they both spent 3 years as part of the management team and feedback from guests at the time praised Michele's commitment to ensuring guests have a wonderful stay at Bloomfield.

We are sorry that you felt the housekeeping was untimely, we do try and keep make this as unobtrusive as possible and service the rooms when guests are out for the morning or afternoon. If we are aware of a discrepancy in our guests’ expectation with the service offered during their stay with us then we will always strive to resolve it on the spot.

The tour guides Shayne and Paul along with Jamie, Steve and Mark are still having fun showing off this paradise that they call home and their passion and dedication to guest satisfaction never weans, in fact they seem to evolve with new information and regularly come up with new places to visit.

Geographically Bloomfield sits in one of the most truly amazing sites in the world, with lovely beaches and towering hills covered with lush rainforest. There are two short strolls available to explore this unique area one to Wongabadja Point 'rocky turtle area" and another to the main beach which is around a 10 minute flat easy terrain walk. Plus, since you stayed with us we do now have a new and improved shorter, easier rainforest walk but we still have the option of a harder walk for our more adventurous guests. Since the Lodge opened 20 years ago, to our knowledge, crocodiles have not been seen on the beaches near the Lodge, but guests do get to spot crocodiles on our Bloomfield River Cruise.

Room tip: In the last three years we have added more outdoor spa's and now all the Hideaways and the Bloomfield Suite have a private spa on the verandah from which you can enjoy the amazing views of Weary Bay.

Thank you for your feedback which has been shared with our Lodge and Management teams.

We stayed four nights in Bloomfield in October 2012 in a Queenslander, we travelled with friends to this remote destination and was not disappointed in anyway. How they deliver the service and quality of food in such a remote place is amazing. Greta and Travis who greeted us were very helpful and helped us arrange a celebration dinner for our friends anniversary and for my birthday - it was amazing. Thank you to Paul who tooks us on the forest walk and went at a steady pace so that i could keep up after spraining my ankle prior to my visit there. We went on the River trip and saw crocodiles and lots of birds, we also paid to visit the beach and with just the 4 of us there we felt a million miles from anyone and anywhere with a lovely picnic to enjoy as well. Thank you to all at Bloomfield for a wonderful experience, we had booked and planned this trip 12 months in advance and we enjoyed every minute of it.

Room Tip: Queenslander rooms have great views of Weary Bay and are far enough away from the main area but not...
