“I Didn't Know That”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

A definite must see when touring The Cape. The Missouri Wall of Fame & Mississippi River Tales Mural is interesting & informative. Begin at Independence & Water Sts., & you may be able to walk through an open floodgate to view the "Great River." It is sectioned off in about 5 year increments, & there are interpretive plates at each section. See if you can find the portraits that DO NOT have their names written next to them, then use the plates to find out who they are. Keep the kids in the game. :-> Also, find the years for high water marks on the flood wall. Amazing to think that it holds back the "Father of All Waters."

“You gotta check this out”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

Interesting artwork and history lesson combined on the city flood wall. The wall protects the old downtown from the Mississippi. If you're in the area of old downtown, it is worth your effort.

“You Have to See This!”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

I was completely amazed by these panels painted on the town's floodwall by the Mississippi. Who thought up these pictures? - they're great, and each has an explanation sign. The quality and drama in each history panel is excellent - and there's actually humor too, and things to hunt for, like the kids having the turtle races or the fish swimming under the flooded car. The artist even painted himself in, up a ladder, working on a section. I had ignored this mural in past trips because I thought it would be boring - big mistake! It's well worth the time to stroll down the street and see these things.
