“Fun Family Fling”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

Our family (of four) have a delightful vacation at Chateau on the Lake from July 28th until August 2nd. The resort is beautiful, the food is great, the pool spotless so we would definitely return. If I could make a comment ~ it would have been even better to have live music in the bar area during the evening hours. Just a little music would have enhanced the atmosphere.

Love this place for a little shopping and relaxing at the adult only library looking lounge with fresh cocktails.Had breakfast in my room and enjoyed it off of the small balcony. All was a very enjoyable retreat. This is an awesome hotel with all of the decor and water gardens inside the center interior overview. Love this place!!!

Room Tip: It is away from all of the Branson rush but not too far to see it all.

This was our second stay at the Chateau. We reserved a lakefront king room and were not disappointed. The view was spectacular! We did have a balcony but it was barely large enough to stand on, very difficult to sit and have a drink. Everything was as it should be in the room. The room was clean, well prepared, and very comfortable.

Both the informal cafe and grill served very good food. Service was excellent.

The only concern about the property was that the pool did not seem to be heated at all. The water was ice cold making it difficult to enjoy anything but sitting on the lounges.

We went to the Chateau for 3 nights 7/25-7/28/13. The room was very plush and the view of Table Rock lake was spectacular! I loved the waterfalls and landscaping as you drive up to the Chateau. The service with the hotel check in and check out was very good. We used the concierge to book a show and that was very convenient too.

However we ate at the Chateau Grill which was a VERY pricey restaurant, and the service was painfully slow. I ordered the filet and lobster. The lobster was excellent but the filet was not even a filet, it was a hunk of brisket... dry and burned. We sat outside for the dinner as the sunset was gorgeous, but by the time the food came it was too dark to see what we were eating. I asked for a table candle 3 times, and they finally brought us a few tea lights. I suppose they thought I wouldn't notice that the filet was actually an overcooked piece of brisket since we couldn't see our food. My husband had to use his i-phone flashlight to see what we were eating. The chef came out an apologized, and insisted it really was an overcooked filet. The chef and manager of the restaurant were only about 20 years old... and apparently inexperienced. For the price of the $200+ dinner, they only took a few dollars off our bill for the uneaten brisket/filet. We had also order the Seafood appetizer that had shrimp, some very strange looking rubbery crab claw meat, and some mystery seafood that looked like tuna fish. It was not very good either. I would give the restaurant a C rating. I would not recommend the restaurant to anyone. We also ordered an appetizer of the calamari and drinks from the bar a different night, and the calamari was one of the worse appetizers we've ever had. I would not recommend that either.

The pool at the resort was nice, and the poolside assistants would come over and hand you cold washcloths if you wanted, along with drinks and food. This was also very pricey and the service was ridiculously slow.

Overall, the resort is very beautiful, but definitely overpriced. I suppose they get away with the prices because they are the only hotel on the water with such spectacular views of Table Rock. The hotel also has its own marina, also very pricey but worth it.

Room Tip: Choose a lake side view above the 4th floor. The view is spectacular!

First, this is simply a beautiful, well-maintained property. The staff is friendly and eager to please. It's the best way to visit Branson, MO. Branson traffic is such a nightmare that staying at the Chateau helps you avoid that mess. And, yet, it's only a 5-minute drive to almost anywhere in Branson.

Second, this hotel is not cheap. If you're a AAA member, you might find a rate as low as $169, but often higher. Nothing is free at this hotel. Although, they are finally offering a limited bandwidth internet for free in the room for checking email. We've stayed here often for family vacations and probably will do so again.

Room Tip: You will be offered a room with a view of the lake, or a room with a view of the Ozark mountains. I...

This hotel is nice, has beautiful landscaping, and is great for families. Don't expect any relaxation time near the pool in the summer as there as kids galore. Overall, the hotel staff was attentive and accommodating. This was our second time staying at the Chateau but the first time we made use of the spa. Unfortunately, the spa services were well under par and incredibly overpriced. My husband and I booked two massages (80 minutes each) and we paid approximately $400.00 after all said and done. The tip and other "fees" were included. The staff at the spa were pretentious and not helpful. They did not explain what all the spa fees included, therefore we learned from other guests by happenstance that the spa had many features which we were not made aware of by the spa staff. We could have enjoyed the steam room, sauna, and whirlpool (apparently this is what we paid for), but the staff gave us no tour of the facility nor did they even explain these amenities were available to us. Disappointing use of $400.00 that could have been used better elsewhere. For this reason, we will not be staying at the Chateau a third time. Also, make sure if you book a lake view room, request a balcony. Ours was one of the few lake view rooms without a balcony. Very disappointed.

Room Tip: Request a balcony if booking a lake view room. Use the spa elsewhere, this one is a rip off.

Three of my gal pals and I stayed here for a four day get away. We wanted something relaxing - and The Chateau filled that requirement. We were greeted by a very kind and welcoming valet and were given direction for check in and valet service or self park. The check in was a bit weird as she wanted to charge me $60 per night more than my reservation. But after clearing that up and getting parked - we were set. We had a double suite with a mountainside view - which actually overlooked the parking lot and the other side of the hotel. So I would definitely book the lake view next time. The room was nice and we had a mini sink and refrigerator which came in handy for food and beverages in the room. We headed downstairs to find dinner and ate on the outside balcony area - the views were breathtaking and the food was delicious (somewhat limited menu). However, they seemed short staffed and our subsequent dining experiences weren't as good as the first night. The next day we slept until almost 10 - it was that quiet and dark in our room (thanks to heavy drapes) - absolutely what we hard working ladies needed:) We found the gym, had a wonderful breakfast on the patio and went poolside. The pool personnel were so accommodating and always offering cold towels and water for the hot day. We enjoyed a spa day the next day - very nice facility and an average massage and pedicure. My only complaint was the automatic 20% applied gratuity - I prefer to tip based on service. In addition, one of my friends had some issues with the services she booked. The manager of the spa is rude and pretentious and wasn't at all interested in asking us about our experience. For what we received - definitely was a bit overpriced. One last negative was all the smoking on the balcony adjacent to where we ate - one morning we were sitting enjoying coffee in the rocking chairs and had to leave because two smokers came out and their smoke hung in the humid air. Overall experience - I'd probably go back - it was gorgeous and we loved the Branson Landing area - however, I'd skip the spa services.

Room Tip: Our Double suite on with the mountain view didn't really have much of a view but it was nice and...
