“Loved the Tribesman”
Reviewed August 13, 2005

We just returned from a stay at The Tribesman and we were very pleased. The owners and staff were so nice, friendly and super helpful with everything. Our unit was very clean, comfortable..better than most cabins that I have stayed in the Branson area and others. The kitchen was adequate, even had a dishwasher! There were washing machines and dryers that were free close to our cabin. Each unit has a nice charcoal grill, table & chairs for outside too. We took our 2 small grandchildren and there were many things for them to do.. they had a ball. There are at least 3 swimming pools on the property, one is indoors. There are several small play areas for the kids. We rented rods (for .50/hr ) and let the fish eat our worms, took the paddleboat out for a spin, hiked on the trail, swam.. we had a blast! The tv has limited cable (didn't look for any jacks for DVD or game units) but we can stay home to watch tv or videos! We were able to get on the internet per dial up, but the resort asks you not to tie up their limited phone lines with the internet, so we only used it late at night just to check on business things (we did get a wireless signal from somewhere but our old lap top wouldn't take the wireless card we had brought.) It's only 3 miles from Silver Dollar City, 15 minutes into Branson. We were so delighted with our trip we are planning to return to The Tribesman in a few weeks for a long weekend.

My family (four of us), along with a friend and his family (five of them), spent four nights in one of the Timber Glen cottages. We found it to be an okay place to stay, but not as nice as the website led us to believe...
First of all, We found the staff to be very helpful, and did not encounter the gruff older gentleman that others have complained about. For example, when we arrived, there were coals left in the grill from a previous guest, and no grill brush to clean it with, but as soon as we notified the office, a guy was there in less than five minutes to get us up and running. The only criticism with this was the fact that we had to walk to the office everytime we needed something because the phone did not have clear instructions on how to dial the office.
Tablerock lake is very nice, but there is no swimming area at this resort. However, it is a very short drive (Less than a half mile) to a swimming area ran by the state. It only cost us a dollar each for adults, and twelve and under are free. Take a snorkel and mask if you have them, because the fish are fun to watch and try to catch. (A warning to parents though, it drops off fast about 10 to 15 feet from shore, and gets VERY deep)
Second, there was NO internet access in the cabin, and we packed our laptop thinking we would be able to use it there. To be fair, the website does not say they offer internet access, but one of the previous reviews on this site said they did, and that's what I was going by. So, I would warn anyone to print off anything they think they may need before they leave home.
Third, as I mentioned before, the cabin was not as nice as we'd been led to believe by looking at the website. The inside of the cabin was circa 1975, and that's being generous. The walls (which are VERY thin) were covered with a very old dark wood paneling, and the linoleum and countertops in the bathroom were hideous. Now, hopefully these are the oldest of the cabins, and the rest are updated. And who knows, maybe they are scheduling the remodeling in some order and ours was at the end of the list...who knows... but it was very dated and needs updating. Another complaint about the bathroom was that we only had enough hot water for about one and a half showers... and we had nine people.. you do the math. Also, the dishwasher did not work correctly, and we ended up doing them all by hand. And, the televisions were fairly old, and did not have RCA jacks on them anywhere, which meant the DVD player we'd hoped to use to play games and watch movies, was useless (except in the car, where it kept the kids quiet for hours. Yay!)
Now, having said all that, we did enjoy our trip to the tribesman, we just wished things had been a little better for our $900 plus for four nights. Surely they bring in enough money to remodel more often than what they have. But, all in all, it was clean, the people were nice, and the lake is beautiful, so just don't expect the ritz, and you'll be fine. If I thought some of the other cabins were nicer, I would probably go back and give them a try.
Oh, I forgot to mention that an out of state fishing license is $5.50, and I didn't catch a dang thing off the docks, and we fished there from 9:30 to midnight. Dagblastit!

Our family spent five wonderful days at Tribesman Resort on Indian Point in Branson, Missouri recently and would love to share our thoughts with those of you who may be looking for a place to take your children or grandchildren. Tribesman Resort is just the place!

We were pleasantly suprpised to see that the website and brochures were very accurate and that our cabin was clean and well supplied to enable us to cookout most of our meals and not have to rely on restauants in the area. There is a Walmart Supercenter nearby and just the place to buy all the food and extras you may have forgotten.

Another advantage is the 3 mile distance from Silver Dollar City and all its adventures! The resort has daily activites planned just for children and the staff treats each one with respect and love. The grounds are lovely and the docks a perfect place to spend a few hours to fish or feed the ducks! We enjoyed a morning on the paddle boats with our grandchildren! Larger boats are also available for a day on Tablerock Lake. There are also hiking trails for you to enjoy and easy enough for children to hike along, too!

We hope to return to Tribesman Resort one day soon and highly recommend it to you.
