Excellent fish hatchery! Very well run! Nice people and are very informational. The large trout in the trophy tank were impressive! Great way to spend an hour or so . Lots of available parking.

Is you fish....check it out. Huge rainbow trout....It will make you buy a rod/reel before you leave!

Oh, bring some quarters so your kids can feed the fish! ;@)

If you're looking for something free to kill some time, this is an interesting stop. Set right below the Table Rock Dam, the visitor's center offers a lot of interesting information about the fish habitat that was created after the White River was dammed up. There's a large aquarium inside to view some of the trout species found in Lake Taneycomo (and that are farmed at the hatchery). Be sure to say Hi to Peanut, a turtle who got got in a plastic 6-pack ring as a youngster and grew up with the ring wrapped around her, deforming her shell. Cared for by the St. Louis Zoo, she's alive & "well" at the hatchery. Outside you can look down inside large open-air concrete tanks (or raceways) that house the trout from very young to adult. There are also quarter machines that dispense fish food. If you're lucky, someone will give you a cup when they're done with it, but you may want to bring one of your own if you plan on feeding a lot. There's tours throughout the day, but we still had a good time without taking one. And best of all, this attraction is free.

This was a great, free place to visit with our kids. And it was educational. A nice change of pace that we all enjoyed.

The hatchery is a neat place to visit. The tours which are at 10:00, 11:00, 1:00, and 2:00, are very educational. My family loved feeding the fish the best! The food costs only 25 cents. Don't forget to take a cup to put it in. Also, be sure to visit the fishing access lake while there and feel the water coming from the stream. It's amazing how cold it is!!
