First thing: My wife suffers from motion sickness and had absolutely no problem with this ride and she didn't have to take a thing for it! The ride is so smooth you hardly feel the boat moving. I could only tell by looking out the window.

Just buy your ticket and go! The level of meal you choose is included in the ticket price. Your choices are regular seating; Paddle Room or Captain's Table. You'll love it! The pre-show is a riot. The dinner is excellent whichever meal you choose. The main show is great. There is an intermission so you can go up on the top deck and view the beautiful Table Rock Lake and it's beautiful surroundings. Just a really fun evening. How often do you see a beautiful, young, blonde, female violinist hanging upside down up in the air and never missing a note? Like I said, great show! No such thing as a bad seat in the house either.

You can also buy DVDs and CDs of the entertainers after the show.

I laughed. I cried. I ate too much.

If you’re looking for an authentically fun way to spend a few hours in the sometimes overly touristy Branson, Missouri, this is the place. As a travel writer who visits a lot of vacation destinations, I tend to shy away from the ones that are too “gimmicky.” Branson has its share of those, but the Showboat Branson Belle is not one.

The riverboat, designed to mimic the majestic showboats of the 1800’s, takes you on a leisurely 2-hour cruise with stunning views of Table Rock Lake in the Ozarks, especially from the top level of the boat.

After the ubiquitous photo op steering the helm (which you can bypass if you like), you are ushered into a plush, large but cozy theatre-style dining area. Floor seating or three balconies, there are no bad seats.

There are two seating options – lunch and dinner. I chose the lunch cruise, which at the time was a Christmas show. The show itself is reminiscent of a bygone era, with classic, well-done entertainment. Here are some of the highlights:

Master of Ceremonies, magician, comedian, and self-proclaimed pickpocket, Mike Bliss, had the audience hooting, hollering and laughing with his jokes, tricks, and audience participation.

Award-winning ragtime piano player, Julie McClarey was magnificent. Entertaining enough while seated, she never missed a beat as she stood and played backwards without seeing, and they kneeling down with her back to the piano and arms crossed over her chest. Amazing talent.

The Showbelles, a female vocal quartet, lent a sweet, old-time show-feel to the production.

Video poem “The Night Before Christmas” was presented, adapted with words for our troops who will be away for the holidays. To say it was moving would be an understatement; I struggled to keep the hot tears searing the back of my eyes from falling. I lost that battle.

The dinner was okay but not fabulous. The first of three courses was iced tea, salad and a homemade corn biscuit, followed by a huge, hot plate of roast beef, honey-dijon glazed chicken, mashed potatoes and snap peas. By the time they served coffee and desert, I was just about out of room, which was a shame because it was a lemon-berry torte drizzled with caramel. I forced myself to eat a few bites.

The cost for the cruise, show, and festive three-course meal is only $49 – an excellent value. This was my favorite experience in all of Branson.

We attended this past Saturday for the Christmas show. We attend at least twice a year as a family tradition. The entire staff was very accommodating and friendly.

The grounds were beautifully decorated.

The dinner was adequate, but nothing special. We wish they would improve the menu. We do understand the number of people served must be a factor, but we had been to the Dixie Stampede earlier in the week and loved the food they served to even more people.

The show was fantastic with a few side notes. Our entire group loved the comedian Chris James. We look forward to him each visit His show is outstanding and witty and was by far the best part of the evening. The boys were fantastic singers and very entertaining. We did enjoy Janice the violin player at first. However, it quickly wore thin. She seemed to want to talk more about herself than actually perform. This was very off putting to our group. We came to watch a performance, not listen to someone's biography. If this was cut back, we would have appreciated her performance more. By the end of the show, we had just had enough and wanted to hear the boys sing again.

We did purchase the comedians video and was very pleased. My sister decided to get the Christmas video from the violin player. The only reason she purchased it was because Janice told us it was the show we just saw and we wanted to enjoy the show again. This was not true, it did not include the show we just saw. It was only of her performing, and you guessed it, talking about herself even more. We felt this was very misleading.

Seven of us, two adults and five teenagers, went out on the Branson Belle. It was over two hours of fun. The meal was very good and the entertainment was excellent. We all enjoyed our evening and you know how hard it is to entertain teenagers.

We went on a Friday afternoon to the earlier dinner show so the sun was still up so we had a lovely view of the scenery. We paid for the upgraded tickets to the private dining room. This was an excellent choice. Our meal was cooked to order, we had the fresh catch of the day and the Kansas city strip steak which we done perfectly. The desserts were sinful! The server was attentive and friendly, answering questions about the boat and crew. The chef came out after the meal to ask us about our food chat if you liked.

We had seats up in the front of the balcony and had time to wander before the show. The crew up in the captain's wheel house let us come in to see how they steer the boat and answered some of our specific questions about the paddle wheels and speed of the boat so forth. The captain even signed our souvenir photo.

The show itself left a bit to be desired. It might be that we had to see a Christmas show because it was November 1st. The entertainer Christopher James was the best part of the show. The band members looked unprofessional with ties undone and shirt buttons open. The main entertainer was ok but she tried to do it all from swinging on some curtains, playing the piano, singing, and preaching, so everything was just okay where if she would stick to one or two things she does best the show might be better.

Come for the dinner and the ride on the boat with the incredible Ozark scenery.
