“Clarion over New Year's Weekend”
Reviewed January 2, 2008

We had our first stay at Clarion in Branson over the New Years weekend. We hadnt visited Branson in about three years, but we hadnt forgotten how terrible the traffic was. Fortunately, on this trip, not many folks were in Branson so the traffic was next to none and we were able to get everywhere quite easily with no delays or problems.

Clarion is smack dab in the middle of the strip. Great location and super easy to get to. Across the street from The Osmond's theater.

We tried to upgrade to a family suite upon check in, but they were booked up. We still got a very nice room facing the strip on the 4th floor. All the staff we encountered from the front desk to the breakfast room to the maids were all helpful and friendly. No complaints there!

On Saturday morning we got up early and went to the free breakfast. It was a very nice room and everything was clean and organized. Waffles, Oatmeal, Bagels, Toast, Cereal, Boiled Eggs, donuts and coffee and juice. Plenty for my family to get their day started.

We headed out to take our kids that morning to the usual Branson attractions of miniature golf, go carts, etc... We had lunch at Ruby Tuesdays (BEST salad bar) and headed back to the room. It was around 1:30 in the afternoon and our room had still not been serviced. We saw the maids in the hallway and decided they were headed for our room next so we took the kids to the pool and were gone about an hour and a half. When we returned the room had still not been cleaned and the maids were no where to be found. We had tickets for the Dixie Stampede early show at 5:30 so we showered, dressed and left. We returned around 9:00 p.m. and our room STILL had not been cleaned. We thought this was very odd, but we were leaving the next morning and decided to let it go as a "fluke" and not contact management about it. In hindsight, we probably should have.

No other complaints......oh........and the shower was incredible!! I have very long hair and water pressure is key for me. The water is very soft by the way, but the shower head was great!

We will try the Clarion again in the future!

This was our first trip to Branson together. We stayed here November 9-11, 2007. It was a very good experience and we could find no fault with the hotel. We booked through the hotel website, which turned out to be cheaper than booking with an online agency, such as Expedia or Orbitz.

The room was very nice with a private balcony, as well as a microwave and mini refrigerator. There were plenty of big, fluffy towels and a nice fluffy bathmat.

The breakfast is fine for those who want something like muffins, cereal, donuts, etc. We chose to eat at the Hard Luck Diner, which is next door. The prices are good and they have singing servers.

Buckingham's Restaurant was fabulous. We would like to compliment our server, Hana. She was excellent. The food was freshly cooked and worth the wait. We had a lovely meal in a private booth. The wine and food is fairly priced and high quality. For those who prefer all you can eat and burgers and fries - go elsewhere. There are plenty of choices a few steps from the hotel.

We did not use the indoor/outdoor pools or jacuzzi but they looked great and were quite large, as hotel pools go. There is also a lounge off the lobby with complimentary coffee and a computer with internet access. The hotel also has 24 hour security.

  • Liked — No screaming kids in the restaurant
  • Disliked — Lack of a full breakfast for hotel this size

Very good beds, pool is large and staff is friendly. Only problem is the deluxe breakfast is not deluxe. It is just waffles, cold hard boiled eggs and no fruit. We went else where to eat.

Took a weekend trip with the wife and kids (ages three and seven) from KC to Branson for a quick getaway last weekend. Rode the "Ducks", go-karts, and had a great time at the Landing. Nighttime light and music show is super. The real show was the "Buckets and Boards" street performance team though. Stick around if you see these two guys setting up!

Our room at the Clarion was great. Clean, fairly quiet, and no smell of smoke anywhere. Even though we were close to the lobby, access to the pool and exercise room was convenient. Kids had a blast in the outdoor pool and hot tub. Didn't have time to spend any time at the indoor pool though. I would definitely stay here again.

Only gripe I have is with the attached Buckingham's restaurant. With two kids, the dinner service was unbearably slow (over an hour before any food was presented). When our steaks came out, they were lukewarm. Not undercooked--just had been sitting on a counter somewhere for way too long. Coming from Kansas City I'm used to at least a little bit of "sizzle" when my ribeye comes out of the kitchen. Not even a little steam on this one. Probably the worst $100 meal I've had in recent memory.

Go to Sadie's buffet next door--best country cookin' you'll find, and it costs next to nothing.

  • Disliked — Buckingham's restaurant

We stayed 4 days this July.We took our 9 year old Grandson. This was a first stay for us.We enjoyed are stay and will stay again. The rooms were clean and they had a great air conditioner I like my room cold.I asked if they could have the air conditioner on when we arrived as I have a medical condition and the heat bothers me.I hate going into a room that is hot, then you have to go somewhere to let the room cool off.But the air conditioner was on and it was nice and cool in the room. The pools are great and you can go at any time and swim.I have stayed at other hotels where they closed the pool early but not here.I loved being able to hang our wet bathing suiets on the balcony to dry I hate haveing them in the bathroom they never get dry.The halls smelled so good except a few days and I could smell cigarette smoke, where it use to be a smokeing establishment. You cant smoke in your rooms but people do at the pool and on there balconies. The brekfast was good but after 3 days you get a little sick of the same thing .They served doughnuts, cereal, biscuits and gravy. You could make your own waffles which were very good. They had fruit and of course your usually juices.I was dissapointed in the TV selection. They didnt carry that many stations and when we werent going to a show or swimming there was nothing to watch. My Grandson was borried with the cartoon channel which was all they had for children. You also can order food from the oasis restaurant and eat pool side which my Grandson enjoyed. The only staff that was rude was the man working in the oasis restaurant. He could use some instructions in being cordial.I liked being close to the shows and we walked to 2 ot them from the hotel. All in all we loved it and will stay again.

If you want no frills clean and comfortable, this is it. Get the full Branson experience because this hotel is in the center of it all .. We walked to the Baldknobbers Hillbilly Show which was very entertaining. This hotel has a free breakfast too, just go early.
