We bought tickets thinking the ride would be filled with anecdotes and the history of the Ozarks. Instead it was mostly just staring out the window looking at trees for two hours. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless the were extreme train enthusiasts.

Riding in a domed railroad car was a novel experience, but after the first 10 minutes, all the trees you see look the same. There was virtually nothing to see but leaves. I was expecting a scenic trip through the Ozarks--their publicity material makes it seem that's what you'll get. The four of us who went on this excursion all felt we had been misled and were very disappointed.

If you want to ride a historic train for about 2 hours or you enjoy historic trains, this is an enjoyable, informative tour. if you have kids, want to ride the train and actually see the ozarks, I would not recommend this. 2/3 of the trip is nothing but woods on both sides of the train. Very little scenic view of the bluff or anything. 2 tunnels and 2 bridges were cool, but not enough for the price of admission.

Thought we would see more historical features along the way, with more narration. Basically you are taking a train ride through thick forest. Any narration is lost amidst the passenger conversation and train rumbling. The "conductors" are very pleasant. Food overpriced.

You couldn't see anything thru the trees on one side and then there was a mountain on the other side so all you saw were rocks. The drive to Branson on the roadways are more scenic. And then they call out passengers by boarding numbers. So the people with the low numbers were pushing and shoving their way thru the people with high numbers. Pretty chaotic. Glad we were in the shade and not too hot outside. Go see a show instead.
