“Charming Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2012

Stayed here for one night in room #20. Enjoyed it very much. The room was a good size and the restored woodwork was beautiful. The wood against the dark green walls was stunning. Lots of light came in through the many windows when you opened the shutters. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was not huge but had a large bubble tub and glass door wall with etchings. Ear plugs were provided so some people may have had trouble sleeping if they had noisy neighbors. Thankfully - we did not. Breakfast was pretty standard. Had enough to start the day. There was coffee and juice to drink. Luckily I had brought a bottle of water down with me. All the hotel staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. We'll probably make it a point to spend at least another night here some time when we are traveling across Missouri on I-70.

This place is awesome! We stayed here for one night while traveling the KT. The room was wonderful, the views are awesome and our son enjoyed the large space of the room and hallways to crawl around. The staff are great, the interior furnishings are wonderful. Very well done. The restaurant is great. They will store your bicycle for free.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the west are towards the highway and could be problematic for light sleepers.

Stayed here for a weekend with my husband. The hotel is very nicely restored and has attractive antiques but also modern conveniences. The bar area and Glenn's cafe were excellent! The tub in our room--#6--was a bit different. Had handheld shower and jets. Breakfast was basic with bagels, muffins, hard boiled eggs, etc. adequate but not fantastic. My only complaint was with the noise level. since there seemed to be a large group there together when we were there, they were up chatting, laughing and squealing in the common areas. It sounded like they were right outside our door. I am actually a solid sleeper but had to call down after 11 pm when they were not quieting down. They left ear plugs on my pillow for the next night which helped some.

Amazing hidden treasure. Stayed here for our anniversary September 22, 2012 in room 16 and did not disappoint.Spent the first day of exploring Rocheport's wonderful shops and having lunch at Abigail's. After exploring other nearby towns such as historic Arrow Rock, we would up at the Hotel Frederick. Great hotel that has been lovingly restored. It boasts a wonderful Hotel Bar and Restaurant (Glenn's Cafe). We coincidentally met the owners having a drink at the bar. They are a fabulous couple that has really made this hotel into a labor of love. After an impromptu dinner with them, we vowed to make this a regular getaway and bring some friends next time. Easy access to Katy Trail.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 16 which is actually on the top floor. One of the less expensive rooms but had plenty...

My husband and I, along with another couple, stayed at Hotel Frederick overnight on 9/11/2012. This was our second stay at the hotel and we were not disappointed. This hotel was built in 1905, had a varied history of occupants, then in 2004 it was purchased and underwent a $4M restoration. The decorations consist of mainly 19th century antiques along with many historical local items. Each room is unique in it's decoration. The beds in the rooms are very comfortable, my husband and I enjoyed a great nights sleep. The hotel operates on the 'green' concept -- they create the hotel energy via solar panels, they recycle, they use tankless water heaters in most of the bathrooms, they have hot water heated towel racks in the bathrooms, the plants and herbs around the hotel are watered via their rain barrel. Also, they attempt to use local fruit, etc, when it is available, for their complimentary breakfast.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
The restaurant located in the hotel, Glenn's Cafe, serves a variety of dishes. We have eaten there twice, each time ordering a different item. Each time, dinner was delicious.
There is plenty of interesting local history in Boonville and the surrounding areas to keep your days busy. One 'must see' place is the Warm Springs Ranch which is located not far from the hotel,it is a Clydesdale breeding facility. The tour you take at the Ranch is extremely interesting and the most exciting part of the tour was being able to pet the horses -- they are 'gentle giants'.
The Hotel Frederick is on our keep list.

Room Tip: I believe all the rooms are comfortable and decorated differently. I have never stayed in the rooms...

We reserved through BedandBreakfast.com and found this historic Hotel to be nicely restored. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We were in room 5 and were desperate for a simple shelf in the bathroom to put our stuff on. It had a beautiful pedistal sink, but I had to go back and forth from the bathroom to the bed area where all my cosmetics/toiletries were. I finally put a chair next to the sink to use as a shelf. The breakfast was......oh boy...um....are you kidding? I thought this was a bed and breakfast? You know those round 'danish' things with the blob of red or white stuff in the middle that are wrapped in plastic that you see at every single Comfort Inn or Budget Inn? Well they offered those for breakfast. They were all unwrapped though The coffee was very weak and the cream was the kind that doesn't need refrigeration and tastes artificial. I always look forward to the offerings for breakfast and the Hotel Frederick really really fell short. Nothing fresh or tasty. We drove to Columbia and went to a cafe to eat.

Wonderful hotel, charming both inside and out. Complimentary breakfast was lovely. Everything within walking distance and the town is filled with history (and a casino!) Glenn's restaurant was closed while I were there but it looked wonderful and we will return to try it out. Great weekend getaway!

Room Tip: Get a room facing the river... gorgeous view and worth the money
