Trail is chipped stone but in great shape and an easy ride. Lots of signs explaining the history of the area. The museum in Boonville is worth a visit. along the river is very pretty with high cliffs on the other side of the trail. Nice ride into Columbia couple old steel bridges and a nice rocky creek to ride along as you enter town. Stop in the DINER right off the trail for an inexpensive hearty meal. YUM! Happy Trails!

The KATY Trail stretches from St Charles (just outside of St Louis) to Clinton a 225 mile rails to trails success story. The first 30ish miles from St Charles to Marthasville is the most congested but once you head west from Marthasville the trail goes through fields, along the Missouri River and by sandy bluffs. There is a small town approx every 10 miles most of which have some services (water, restroom, grocery store, cafe etc). The KATY Trail website provides a list of the services in every town on the KATY. If you like quiet country cycling the KATY is for you. It is a great place for a day trip or a multiple day trip with camping, BnB's and hotels along the way.

My husband and I ride the trail almost daily. We just recently did the route form Jefferson City to Rocheport and back. The trail is level, well-maintained, and shaded in many places. There are interesting stops along the way for you to take a break, get a bite to eat, see some views, or take a needed rest area break. Great for family and great place to exercise.

The Katy Trail is great. Very scenic ride long the Missouri and probably the best limestone trail surface we have ridden on.
