23 of us had a walk today around beautiful Barrowden. We arrived at the pub at 9.45 and Martin, the landlord had prepared a lovely menu for us to make our choices before we set off. We arrived back at the pub at 1 and we enjoyed drinks on the terrace overlooking the village green. People sampled the Micro brewery beers which they enjoyed and then we went into the pub for our lunch. The staff coped magnificently with our large numbers and accompanying noise. The food was delicious. I had roast beef and it was marvellous. Lovely fresh vegetables in large bowls on the tables. It was very hot today and I am sure Sharon in the kitchen was feeling the heat. Beautiful puds followed, so well presented. Our group is picky but everyone thought it was top notch. Thank you very much Martin and Sharon.

only 2+ miles/5mins off the A1 at Stamford on the A43. Large carpark, easy to find, ideal for a journey stopoff to or from London. Sunday lunch in flurries of snow - yes, the weather forecast was wrong again! - Good friendly service, seating,in a rambling restaurant, at a guess for 50, good winelist and excellent menu/food and speed of service. The George was fully booked, so we found it by chance, and most certainly we'll go again.( It's a shame 'amgv' didn't visit the day we did; I can only say they ought to give it another go sometime)

We ate here on 8 March and it was about half full. There were four of us and the food was very good. Unfortunatley the service was very poor. Amongst other things, we had to ask for cutlery, food was spilled on me, tonic bottles wer brought to the table and placed on it unopened. The impression was a total lack training and care about customers. We struggled to get the bill and when we got it, it was easier to just walk to the bar to pay. Maybe it was just a bad night but we were very disappointed by the service.

Despite some of the reviews I have read about the Exeter Arms which I cannot agree with I think the pub is well run with Martin at the helm making sure that each visit will be memorable. Martins beers are excellent and cope for all tastes. My wife and I arrived late wondering if it was possible to have a meal and the reply was in the affirmative. Charon, Martins wife is the cook and we had fish and chips. Considerable though has gone into the receipe for the batter and that made this dish a prize winner. Lovely crispy batter down to the last bite. Excellent chips and very friendly service.Anyone who reads this review must head for the fish and chips for a lasting memory. The menu list having tried some of the selections is good and well prepared and neatly served. If Martin knows your name he will never forget it. Thanks for a lovely warm friendly evening..
