The exterior of the motel is nice. The interior seems nice at first as there is a nice "sitting room" with fake fire place and couches in front near the desk. That is where the ambience is best. After that, it is bad....VERY BAD.
The entire building smells of cigarette smoke--even the non-smoking rooms/floors. There is dirt on the walls in the hallway, the elevator, the everything.
When we got to our room, we turned on the light and thought "not horrible", then tripped over an empty coke bottle someone had left on the floor of our "clean" room. When we went into the bathroom to wash hands after picking it up and throwing it away, there were hairs all over the sink and counter. When we checked the bed for bedbugs, we found none, but we did notice that the mattress could be cleaner, and there were 4 LIVE LARVAE of some sort of insect....probably moths, since in the morning, the sun was streaming in via moth holes ALL over the curtains. I killed 3, and took one down to the desk clerk who shrugged his shoulders and said "sorry we've been having issues with our maids". There was an odd stain on the ceiling and a couple of sticky looking spots on the wall/end table...near the light switch. At first I thought it was the leftover bits from a spider or insect egg sac, but am not 100% sure, and didn't want to touch it to investigate further. The chair in the room for the built in desk, was GROSS. The mirror on the wall at the head of the bed (creepy, right?) had fingerprints and smudges all over it. One of the blankets (luckily there was a duvet cover that didn't repulse) was matted, stained and felt like rotting felt when I touched it to take it off the bed. Our non-smoking room on the non-smoking floor reeked of smoke that seemed to creep in via the air vents and between the walls/ceilings. When we complained and asked for a new room, they said the only one they had open was on the smoking floor. We looked at it, just in case, and found that the smell and air quality on that floor was unbearable, and the mattress and etc in even worse shape.
Since the room was pre-paid and it was very late at night after a 9 1/2 hour drive, we had no choice but to stay. We re-examined the room. The mattress, sheets, pillows and pillow cases were clean and showed no evidence of bed bugs, fleas, etc., so we slept ok...without that one gross blanket, but still felt gross being there.
The daytime desk people were really very nice, and luckily there were no bedbugs, fleas, or lice, but I will NEVER go back to this motel. EVER
