Marriott St. Louis Airport
Ranked #1 of 12 Hotels in Berkeley
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 7, 2012

I've stayed at this property countless times over the years, taking advantage of a "park and fly" deal which is often nearly as cheap as just paying for a week of parking at the airport. This is a large, dated property with an excellent location.

Rooms: I've never stayed in the newer tower at this hotel (I believe it is only open to Marriott Rewards members or carries an additional fee--not sure on this one). The rest of the property consists of another large tower and a low-rise section that form a box around the outdoor pool. On this trip, we were given a room in the tower. The decor is fairly dated (really noticable with the CRT television), and the rooms are quite small. That being said, the rooms are still in quite good condition. The beds are quite comfortable, and the airconditioning works quite well. I really wouldn't call them "Marriott rooms", but they're ok provided that you dont pay more than $100/night. An added annoyance: Internet access is around $12/day. Get into the 21st century, Marriott!

Location: The finest available at Lambert. The airport is literally across the highway from this hotel! Free shuttle service is available, and it's fairly frequent (every 20 minutes, or on call at the airport).

Service: Check in clerks are quite nice. On this stay, a charge for internet access was added to our bill and disguised under an odd name. When I called to question it, it was dropped without arguement.

I'd recommend this property for cheap park-and-fly deals, but that's about it. If your business is placing you here for a convention or other event, you should be comfortable. Outside of those two circumstances, though, I can't think of any other compelling reason to stay here.

Room Tip: If you can find a way to stay in the newer "Marquis" tower, it might be worth it. The roo...

the Airport Marriott is starting to show its age i think. The staff is great, and the rooms were clean, but many little things are starting to show. Carpets can be worn, the rooms are large, but power outlets are hard to find, or not there at all. That sort of thing.
The elevators are not very handy leaving long walks down multiple hallways looking for your room . Instructions on where to park were just a little vague; making the staff use maps with everything clearly marked would be helpful in this. The hotel is a very large box shape with pool in the inner courtyard making some of the rooms a real hike.
THe restaurant off the lobby was handy and good service, but unimpressive food.
You stay here because it's right by the airport, not because it's one of Marriotts best....

Room Tip: ask to be near an elevator, or at least know where one is - and check the map so you don't park...

As always, the breakfast buffet is great - if it's included in the rate for the room!!! They gave 2 pools that were a lot of fun for the adults as well as our 4 year old niece. The workout room was also excellent and had treadmills and elliptically as well as some weights. All in all a great stay, a little pricey, but this brand is always a safe choice! Although its not necessary, we were a bit disappointed that our room was not cleaned from the day before - had to call to get additional towels, which did not prove to be an issue - you just thing that when you come back that the bed will be made!

Room Tip: They ran out of refrigerators - if you need one, I'd make a point to ask for it when making your...

I was traveling with a large church group recently when we stayed at this hotel. Our room was clean and average. My biggest complaint is that the hotel does not have refrigerators or microwaves in all of its rooms. I say not all, because there was one person in our part out of 50 who had a refrigerator in her room. Next, this hotel charges to use the internet, not to mention they do not offer a complimentary breakfast. Considering what we paid....there was not a lot about this hotel that would make it stand out from some of the others.

This is a quality Marriott that has all the amenities for business traveller. The Conceirge lounge is in the Marquis tower (9th) at the front of the building. I always go for this tower. Have checked in late and got a room in the rear of the hotel and you can walk forever to get to some of them. Restaurant / bar (River Rock Grill) is pretty good, and the breakfast buffet has great custom omelettes. The gym is well equipped and nicely kept but hard to get to.

Room Tip: Try to get the Marquis tower.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights while attending a Christian conference at the hotel. After reading the reviews of this hotel, I was a little concerned about staying here. Some reviewers report that the hotel is great and some report that the hotel is terrible. Some reviewers noted that the hotel has three sections, one of which had been recently renovated and is very nice. Before we checked in, I called and asked to be given a room in the renovated section. The hotel honored our request and we stayed in the Marquis Tower of the hotel. The room was very clean, very comfortable, and quiet. Even though the hotel is within sight of the St. Louis airport, I never heard the sound of any aircraft.

Our stay was during the record-breaking heat wave when local temperatures exceeded 100 degrees each day. Yet, our room and all other areas of the hotel were kept cool at very comfortable temperatures. The hotel restaurant was OK but nothing special. However, there is a very nice barbeque restaurant next door, about a one block walk. The hotel charges for in-room internet access. But, free wireless internet is available in the lobby.

My wife and I went there on a church conference - the group met at the hotel and we only ventured out to go to the St Louis ballgame. The hotel was nice, well kept. The dining menu was okay, nothing spectacular but okay. The prices in the food shop were high - even considering the rather captive audience that uses it. The hotel staff are very friendly - the hotel also offers use of the shuttle bus for direct drop off and pick up (within a reasonable distance).

Room Tip: even with close proximity to the airport we seldome heard a plance
