“worth a detour”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

maybe a little pricey but the quality of the food and the service made the little extra well worth it.As I have an aversion to courgettes and risotto the chef replaced these items without any fuss. The chicken and tarragon sauce was excellent, as was the halibut .The strawberry and raspberry posset was a wonderful two tone dream and the portion was quite large. Nice atmosphere in the place and the serving staff were efficient and very pleasant. Well done everyone!

“Warm welcome and wonderful food”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

This pub has the lucky combination of being on a road side location (easy to spot) and yet has a lovely garden with peaceful rural views. The inside did not disappoint either; a tasteful combination of traditional with exposed stone and chunky furniture. This is offset with bright cushions, fresh flowers and tea lights to create an elegant dining setting. The landlady is a professional. She welcomes the customers, stopping to chat but with eyes on all in the room. Attentive and helpful, smiling and warm. The menu is a good mix of traditional and individual, with generous portions, well presented and most importantly full of flavour. It is very obviously home made rather than bought in which is appreciated. I would certainly come here again if ever driving through this pretty part of Dorset.

“One of the Best”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

I think I am rather hard to please as far as pubs go but I have to compliment the manager and staff of The White Hart. Had an excellent meal there on Saturday night. I think they have just the right balance of very good quality food at a reasonable price with well kept local beers. Very attentive and friendly staff and an atmospheric building. Really couldn't be better. We will be back.

“Oh dear”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

An nice restaurant in an attractive setting
Enjoyable food but lots of mistakes spoilt the evening
Pre dinner gin and tonic forgotten
Wrong sauce on rather small 8oz steak
Vegetables forgotten with fish dish
Shared sweet had to ask for plates
Menu said with strawberries and raspberries --- no strawberries and 3 raspberries!
All these things were put right we were given 4 strawberries! And a complementary glass of sweet wine, but at 78 pounds for this meal (16 pounds for wine) this was not a cheap meal.
We did wonder why there were so few diners on a Saturday night -- 10 people in restaurant
