The Inn at Ole Miss

The hotel has a great location right on the campus of Ole Miss. We had several rooms and each was distinctly different. We soon realized that each room (at least in the older section) is sponsored by an alumni. So depending on the interior design skills of the alum you can end up in a room with a duck motif or a homey bedroom theme with lots of pictures of peoples kids (or grandkids). It is a great concept, but some of the rooms had not received much attention in recent years. The lobby is gorgeous and all the staff provided southern hospitality. The fitness room is excellent and provide plenty of options for your work out needs.

Room Tip: Request a room in the newer section (the tower).

The hotel was perfectly situated for a visit to Ole Miss and the hotel staff was very helpful getting aclaimated to campus. Unfortunately the bathroom needed bit of attention as mold growth on the ceiling was beginning to show.

I read reviews for the Inn at Ole Miss before booking. The new Tower was filled so had to book a room in the original part of the Inn. Big Mistake! Would rather have found a chain hotel/motel off campus than stay here!

When I entered to lobby there was a couple ahead of me with at least 4 clerks behind the counter - all chose to ignore me. I waited until the couple walked away and was still ignored. Finally, one clerk looked at me with raised eyebrows, kind of a "may I help you?" look. What, weren't you taught in Hospitality 101 that you actually need to speak to guests?! This continued every time I entered the lobby or approached the front desk. The most unfriendly bunch of clerks in hotel-dom!

The lobby looked new (could use a decorator - what's with the giant floral arrangement on the table placed under a chandelier - where it smashes into the chandelier?!). Lobby looked bright, new and airy - I thought "not like the reviews I read". Went up to the room - hallway looked new and bright - thought "this looks promising - not at all like the reviews I read". Then I turned the corner and entered the 1980s! Dark, ugly hallway with old carpeting and cheap plywood doors. The rooms were equally dark and ugly. The bathroom was the worst I have ever seen (except maybe in a frat house in college but never somewhere I paid to stay!!). The shower was disgusting - it had mold and mildew all over the wall: around the shower surround and the soap holder - I was afraid to use it! There were way too many knick-knacks around the room (giant candlesticks with no candles in them, decorative plate in a stand, frilly lamps, etc.). Despite the amount of lamps (that cast virtually no light!), it was a very dark room. No refrigerator in room either.

Breakfast was included with the room. It was served in the Cafe on the 1st floor. Had a nice selection.

If I ever have to go back to visit Ole Miss, I'll be staying at the Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn!

Room Tip: If you must stay on campus and must book at the Inn at Ole Miss, stay only in the Tower!

I guess if you are visiting here to see your son or daughter than you will want it to be good. Well when you arrive it does but after that it tends to go downhill. The reception is very grand , clean and very pleasant reception staff but that falls down when you get to your room. Apparently there are 2 parts to the hotel. Whichever one we were in the cleaning is done by a sub contractor and it was not a pretty sight! It was so bad we had to move rooms but the second room was not much better. The breakfast was adequate but there was no bar and really very little "life". Maybe when there is a game on perhaps the atmosphere would be better.

Room Tip: Ask for the new block

Right on the lovely campus of the University of Mississippi, the Inn is splendidly convenient for anyone working at or visiting the University. Its public spaces are ample and gracious, and the staff was very helpful. A decent free continental breakfast is offered, but there is no restaurant or lounge, nor is there any such nearby. The Inn has an excellent fitness facility, with lots of equipment, well maintained, and open 24/7. Parking seemed ample and free.

The rooms are adequate, but are in need of some attention. They seem quite dated. Mine was fairly small, although nicely furnished. It was rather dark and had a very small closet. The bathroom, to, was OK, but might better have fit in a 1980's motel than a contemporary hotel.

There was a computer for patron use in the lobby, but no printer.

Overall, if I were visiting the University of Mississippi again, I would probably stay here, but my expectations would be modest.

If you are an alum of Ole Miss you would probably love this place. I was there on business. Don't know whether I was in the old or new part. The room was small, and yes, dark. I am not particularly sensitive to smell but when I checked in the room really reeked of some kind of soap or cleaner. It went away after the first day. I did not bring an extension cord and had to use my computer at a small table because there were no outlets otherwise. No good chairs to sit in while working. It is convenient if you need to be on campus. The staff is helpful. Food is limited, no room service in the evenings several nights a week. Breakfast is strange, you help yourself in a medium-sized room with limited choices.

The hotel lobby is very pretty. The rooms are in need of updates. Felt more like an econolodge inside the room than a nice hotel. That said, the room was clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They are located right on campus, so you can walk to everything. Was a great place to stay for our tour of Ole Miss. Probably would look for a little more updated place next time.
