“A very relaxing place”

This is a beautiful park overlooking the Mississippi river. The museum is well worth the price of admission. Lots of history and two great fish tanks. Go sit out front in the rockers and enjoy the Miss river. Nice observation deck on the 3rd floor. Everyone is very helpful and nice here.

“Such beauty! So much information.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2013

The River Park is beautiful, take the time to do the nature walk along the bank of the Mississippi River. Rocking chairs are available outside to relax after a walk through the museum. Beautiful spot on the river, lots of history here, and even a diagram of flood levels. A must see in Tunica.

“Great place to relax and get out of casino”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

My husband and I come here twice a year on our gaming trip to Tunica (October & March). It is always very relaxing and interesting to see the river levels changing from super flooded to super dry. Usually the weather is around 70-75 and perfect for the walking trails, but do beware of coming after rains because the bugs in there will be intense.

We went into the museum our first trip and found it very interesting to learn the history of the area and river. Younger kids will probably find it boring except for the fish tanks-there is alot to read and not "hands on" displays. It is $5 for the museum, but no charge to get into the park or use the trails.

Our last trip we took the day river cruise. I believe it was $12 a person. We got there and had to wait in hopes of a couple more people showing up for the trip because they would not sail with less than 12 customers. Anyone coming from farther away should really call ahead and make sure the boat is sailing before you come out. Lucky for us some did show up and we took off up river. They served drinks and snacks on board and the tour guide gave interesting information about the history of the river. Now if you really want to be able to hear the guide over the noise of the boat you will have to move close to him or maybe even sit inside (I think the intercom plays in there.) Personally, we just took our beers out on deck and enjoyed the sunshine and the water. The view is relaxing, but you are only going to see the water, shore and trees. They had a guy taking pictures you could buy and even though I am usually annoyed by this, we didn't have our camera with us and the ten bucks was worth the great picture we left with. We are contemplating the dinner cruise on our trip down in two weeks.

Overall, our favorite thing to do here is sit in the rocking chairs and watch the barges on the river and walk the trails. The only time we came here and it was crowded was when the Girl Scouts were holding an event. Usually it's fairly quiet and you feel like you are getting away from it all. Especially the ding ding ding of the slot machines........

“Worth a visit if you are in the area!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

Before you go, call and make sure it is open. We tried to go in January, but it was closed. I think they have seasonal dates. The staff was friendly and helpful. The views of the river were breath taking. We did not go to the museum, but still enjoyed the outside walking trails and views of the river. They also had information about the trees and history of the area we walked.
